Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is now seeking an Intern Sourcing & Sustainability EMEA to join our team in London, UK.

The Internship

The Intern Sourcing & Sustainability EMEA will contribute to the performance of the EMEA team by supporting the Head of Sourcing & Sustainability EMEA with a variety of duties and projects in the areas of Sourcing, i.e. Procurement, Supplier Management and delivery of relevant corporate events, as well as Sustainability, i.e. Strategy and Policy design, delivery and reporting in the EMEA division. They will work individually or alongside other interns and colleagues up to VP level from other corporate departments on business-critical projects to provide support and resources in line with the strategic priorities of the division.

They will implement activities, processes and procedures which support the existing team and the future growth of the division. They will build positive and effective working relationships with their client group and associates in order to drive the development, effectiveness, engagement and retention of the team in line with the needs of the division.

Responsibilities

1. Sourcing: Procurement & Supplier Management

• Administration and set up of supplier rebates, contracts and tracking systems for revenue generation

• Negotiate key commercial terms and contract specific pricing that delivers value to key stakeholders

• Assist the Head of Sourcing & Sustainability EMEA to:

­- establish contractual relationships with WHR suppliers to provide improved product and service offerings as well as competitive pricing to our franchisees

  • manage service metrics that track the performance of WHR programmes and vendors

  • investigate, identify and create new external business and commercial opportunities, including strategic alliance and third-party collaboration initiatives

  • identify and deliver procurement cost savings while ensuring value delivery and consistency for procurement of corporate services

  • identify opportunities for expanding programmes or vendor relationships to grow sourcing volume and revenue

  • deliver, measure and evidence revenue generation through accurate reporting with stakeholder/ finance sign off on a monthly basis

  • successfully organise and deliver the regional 2021/ 2022 WHR EMEA Roadshows (some travel might be required)

  • provide sourcing support for the opening of new managed hotels across the division

  • launch corporate-wide initiatives

2. Sustainability

Support the Head of Sourcing & Sustainability EMEA to:

• design and deliver the Sustainability Strategy, Policy, Metrics, ROI Objectives and Reporting as well as relevant programmes in the EMEA division

• create reports, presentations and communications relating to sustainability

• collect and interpret sustainability data within EMEA

• monitor global regulations and how they might impact or apply on WHR operations

• manage resources such as budget, internal teams and external support to deliver sustainability programmes

• work with external strategic partners to rollout policies and programmes for the hospitality industry

• partner with functional leaders across the EMEA business to improve sustainability performance

• develop, report on and improve KPIs relating to sustainability

• build stakeholder engagement to reduce costs, deliver savings and improve operating efficiencies

3. Internship Group Project: all Interns will be involved in a business-critical project during their internship

4. Support the employee engagement committee in organising activities/ initiatives under 3 pillars: People, Community and Sustainability

Experience and qualifications

• Studying towards a Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting/ Finance/ Economics, Business/ Management, Law, Environment/ Sustainability or Logistics/ Supply Chain Management

• Prior experience within a relevant role in an office environment is desirable.

• Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, an additional language would be an advantage.

• Must be an experienced user of MS Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Organisational relationships

The Intern Sourcing & Sustainability EMEA will report to the Head of Sourcing & Sustainability EMEA. They will also work closely with all other departments within the EMEA and NAMER Wyndham Hotels & Resorts corporate teams. The role also has a significant amount of engagement with external suppliers, so a professional and confident communication style is essential.

Compensation and benefits

• £23,000 gross per annum, prorated for the duration of the internship

• 25 days of holidays per annum (accrued basis)
