Corporate Strategy Team
The Corporate Strategy team works in close partnership with WTW’s CEO and Global Leadership Team (GLT) on setting WTW’s overall corporate strategy and driving WTW’s highest priority initiatives. Examples of these initiatives include:
Company-wide strategy reviews
Segment, business, and geography-specific strategy reviews
Macro opportunities and emerging themes
Competitor analysis and monitoring
The Team works closely with Mergers & Acquisitions and Innovation & Acceleration to help develop and execute the company’s strategic plans through both inorganic and organic growth opportunities.
Your Role on the Team
As a Director on the Strategy team, reporting to the Head of Corporate Strategy, you will lead day to day execution of strategy projects while guiding and developing individual team members. You will play a critical role in accelerating WTW’s growth by developing and delivering these high priority strategic initiatives, aligned with the objectives of WTW.
You will have the opportunity to further build on your proven leadership skills and leverage your interests and experience to drive forward projects, build strong relationships and create value for WTW. You will be working with a high-performing team, including other former strategy consultants, and you will work collaboratively on challenging projects, with cross-function teams from many backgrounds and disciplines. You will work closely with others but also autonomously with little direction. Your excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills and strong interpersonal and communication skills will ensure successful delivery of projects and individual team member performance.
Primary Activities
Lead day to day execution of strategy projects; scoping the project, developing project plan, driving research, analyzing data sources, drawing insights and conclusions and planning for implementation
Lead or contribute to initiatives across all areas of the company, working effectively with diverse teams:
Segments and businesses (e.g., Corporate insurance broking, Retirement and pensions, Investments, Health and employee benefits, etc.)
Geographies (North America, Europe and International)
Functions (Operations & Technology, Finance, Legal, HR, Marketing and Communications)
Generate financial analysis related to strategic initiatives, competitor performance analysis, and business cases
Organize and drive market research and analyses
Gather qualitative data and input through interviewing subject matter experts and conducting workshops
Synthesize complex information into clear takeaways and recommendations using both quantitative and qualitative methods
Communicate effectively and clearly with many all audiences, including senior company executives
People
Act as liaison between senior leadership teams, corporate functions and external consultants
Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on teams across all segments, geographies, and functions
Work directly with WTW senior leaders
Hiring, managing and developing talent
Excellence
Develop technical knowledge and skills in the areas of strategy, (e.g., research, project management, business case financial modelling, corporate strategy)
Develop understanding of the key markets and segments in which WTW operates
Deliver on projects to meet or exceed internal client expectations
Support innovation in the corporate strategy team
Bachelor’s degree at a 2:1 or higher
Solid experience of corporate strategy / consulting experience at a top tier consulting firm or an MBA from a top institution and exposure of corporate strategy / consulting experience
Background in consulting, strategy, corporate development, financial analysis, or strategic planning is strongly preferred
Proven record of high performance in your past positions
Self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced, evolving business environment
Comfortable with ambiguous situations
Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis
Excellent business and financial analysis skills, including the ability to analyze data trends, draw conclusions and develop clear recommendations and action plans
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Strong organizational skills; able to work and think in a methodical and orderly way
Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrable interest in Finance, Economics, Strategy or Business Administration
Availability to travel internationally once a quarter
Flexibility on working hours – global nature of the work means there may be early morning or evening calls
