WHAT YOU WILL DO

Amgen’s Research and Development (R&D) Business Operations organization addresses complex business challenges with outstanding people, tools, and processes. The team delivers on key initiatives and capabilities to support R&D. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing and processing healthcare compliance related contracting and payments of proposed arrangements by Amgen staff with Members of the Global Healthcare Community (i.e. Fee for Service, Consulting, Sponsorship, Donation, Exhibits, Advisory Boards or other similar engagements).. We are looking for talent who have play a key role in supporting the healthcare contracting process and ensuring accurate and timely payments to members of the health care community. The senior manager requires an excellent understanding of contracting as well as SAP software and its functionalities. The senior manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, sourcing, accounts payable, and finance, to ensure smooth and seamless contract management and payment operations. Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you'll lead the (OUS) strategy for the Healthcare Provider Global Business & Technology Center (HCP GBTC), ensuring global alignment and driving efficiency. You will oversee a team managing contracts for the healthcare community, handling the entire engagement process from intake to execution. Effective communication with stakeholders and senior leadership is crucial, as is acting as the operational contact for R&D and OUS engagement. You will collaborate with various departments to streamline financial processes and ensure compliance with regulations. Additionally, you will mentor your team, lead strategic initiatives to improve contracting and payment processes, and resolve escalated issues. Managing the OUS budget and fostering relationships with healthcare providers and organizations are also key responsibilities.

Knowledge:

  • Issue Resolution: Identify and escalate business issues and suggest process improvements while managing multiple assignments.

  • Compliance Interaction: Ensure business partners understand and follow compliance processes and standards.

  • Prioritization: Prioritize competing interests and manage a high volume of contract requests.

  • Team Oversight: Maintain oversight of the contracts and payments team, providing support to Amgen staff.

  • Department Coordination: Coordinate with other departments to resolve issues promptly.

  • Goal Alignment: Align team goals with the organization’s objectives.

  • Policy Development: Develop and enforce policies and procedures for contracting and payment operations.

  • Support and Oversight: Provide oversight and support to the contracts and payments team.

  • Process Improvement: Identify and escalate business issues and suggest process improvements while managing multiple tasks.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate and collaborate with departments like Law, Regulatory, and Compliance.

  • Compliance Review: Review and manage compliance arrangements via the C3 system.

  • Stakeholder Interaction: Interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing high-level customer service.

  • Payment Inquiries: Manage payment inquiries from healthcare community members and internal staff.

  • Time Management: Use strong time management and problem-solving skills.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

Education and Experience:

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of related pharma/contracting/law experience OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 years of related pharma/contracting/law experience, OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related pharma/contracting/law experience, OR

  • Associate’s degree and 10 years of related pharma/contracting/law experience, OR

  • High school diploma or GED and 12 years of related pharma/contracting/law experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Law or paralegal background preferred.

  • Strong external customer service background

  • Managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources.

  • Strong data analytics skills with experience in analytics software, (eg. Spotfire, Tableau, Smartsheet) as well as experience with document management applications (eg. Veeva), and portfolio planning tools and financial systems (eg. Planisware, SAP, MS Projects)

  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, contract terms, and payment processes.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to effectively manage projects and teams.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Proficiency in contract management software and financial systems.
