Why this job matters

The role holder in the Networks Team of one of BT’s major customer accounts, supporting their Network Infrastructure & Security, Datacentre IP infrastructure and Offices.

The role holder is responsible for providing effective support of large projects and leadership of small/medium projects. The role holder can also be responsible for supporting real time operational systems providing leadership and guidance on resolving complex technical issues.

What I'll be doing - your accountabilities

  • Active involvement in BAU Incidents and Request, QoS, Proactive monitoring, Level 1 to 2 Level Support with progression to Level3.

  • To work on technical projects/operational support tasks for their managers or sponsors independently with minimal technical guidance.

  • Manage and resolve network faults.

  • Operational support of IP & Security network across all customer datacentres.

  • Contribute, develop and review network documentations and procedures.

  • Communication Interaction with vendors, providers, users, IT Teams and key stakeholders.

Skills required for the job

  • Acts as a source of technical expertise to others.

  • Ability implement network solutions and work in cross teams managing quality and time.

  • Ability to interpret client needs and then lead the development and implementation of solutions to to meet business needs.

  • Highly specialized Networks technical role.

  • Good Verbal and Written communications skills.

Experience you would be expected to have

  • CCNP or equivalent certification.

  • Network security.

  • Wireless technologies.

  • Firewalling – multiple vendors Fortigate, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA and Checkpoint.

  • MPLS and VXLAN network experience.

  • Routing - BGP, OSPF, ISIS, RIP. VXLAN, SD-WAN, SD-Access, DMVPN, VPN technologies, MPLS Technologies

  • Switching & Bridging: HSRP, VRRP, VTP, STP, RSTP, Trunks (802.1q and ISL), VLANs, Etherchannels, VxLAN

  • QoS: QOS, WRED, Queuing features, Policing and Shaping

  • Automation (advantageous): SDN Controllers (Open daylight, NSX), SD-WAN controller (Viptela, Nuage), OpenFlow, NFV, VIM.

  • Multicasting: Sparse-Mode, Dense-Mode, Sparse-Dense-Mode, IGMP, CGMP, Rendezvous Points

  • Operating Systems: Windows, Linux and Unix.

  • Cloud, VM technologies and Scripting are advantageous.
