Requirements

  • BS or MS Degree or equivalent experience in Materials Science / Engineering, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering.

  • Experience with Thermomechanical processing

  • Due to Department of Defense contract work must meet ITAR hiring requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting required.

  • Solid project management skills; must be detail oriented.

  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on a “hands on” approach.

  • Exposure and experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and practices preferred.

  • Strong and persistent drive to deliver positive results.

    Responsibilities of the Metallurgy/Materials Engineer

    ·   Devise testing methods to evaluate the effects of various conditions on particular materials.

    ·   Ensures that process specifications, work instructions, equipment controls, and monitoring are in place, working and properly communicated.

    ·   Tracks, monitors, and audits product and process results to ensure desired material properties, quality levels, and manufacturability are achieved.

    ·   Work with development engineers to create robust operational processes and specifications for new products, materials, and alloys.

    ·   Support the planning and production management functions in optimal scheduling and usage of all key equipment.

    ·   Drive strategic planning and capital requirements to proactively identify and develop process capability and capacity to meet business growth objectives.

    ·   Identify opportunities and implement changes to improve products/processes or reduce costs using knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling and production equipment, quality control standards, and product design or materials. 

    ·   Determine root causes of failures using analytical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.

    ·   Create applicable, detailed work instructions and manufacturing process documents that ensure safe and successful process execution.
