Context

This role is responsible for Compliance, Risk and Health & Safety strategy and standards management for Diageo Global Supply, Primary Logistics (Scotland). The role holder is a member of the Primary Logistics Leadership Team and will be a member of the Crisis Management teams where required.

This role has responsibility for creating a dynamic Health and Safety strategy to manage our onsite 3PL and ensuring adherence to process.

The H&S and Compliance Manager partners with the Category Teams, the Logistics Contract Managers and other H&S Mangers within Global Brand Supply to standardise processes, manage risks and drive compliance to assure Product Integrity and a safe working environment. The role is instrumental in Diageo’s journey to become the most trusted and most respected consumer goods company in the world.

The prime function of this role is to provide leadership and guidance on H&S, Compliance and effectively manage our Risk footprint to drive end to end performance and ensure Diageo brands and reputation are protected.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Create and lead the onsite 3PL Health and Safety Programme for Diageo.

  • Ensure that Diageo’s Quality Strategy for logistics is appropriate to manage all customer concerns and put in place corrective mitigations

  • Lead the management of the Primary Logistics (Scotland) risk mitigation plan for Diageo.

  • Identify risks and create mitigation plans to protect service and reputation, including ownership of our BCP for cyber, 3PL operations and onsite logistics operations

  • Define the logistics roadmap to improve safety via technology and digital solutions

  • Define appropriate leading and lagging critical metrics for Customer Concerns and H&S.

  • Continuous External Benchmarking focusing on trends/efficiencies within the wider logistics sector to drive performance improvements in processes, strategy and technologies

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or equivalent experience in relevant or transferrable subject preferred

  • Sufficient knowledge and technical expertise in Logistics is an advantage.

  • Extensive experience in manufacturing (Manufacturing Excellence lens desirable)

  • Thought leadership/ Strategic vision/ externally connected/ future orientated.

  • Track record in delivery and strategy/ thought leadership.

  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with and influence partners throughout the organization.

  • Approachable and able to provide clear and concise information.

  • Desirable - Six Sigma Principles

  • Awareness of BCP and risk management techniques

  • Fully aware and of Health & Safety requirements and role models these standards each and every day.

  • Must be a great teammate with proven interpersonal skills. High energy, strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to lead by example.

  • Demonstrated engagement, presentation and influencing skills for large operations
