The City of Lenexa is now hiring for our Driver - Recreation Program & Events position. The ideal candidate will be:

Position Summary

This position provides safe and reliable transportation to program and event participants. Driving may include shuttle driving for events, day trips, and field trips for youth during days out of school. Hours vary and may include daytime, evening and weekend hours.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Operates 16-passenger shuttle bus to safely transport passengers.

  • Performs pre/post trip vehicle inspections.

  • Assists groups of passengers in loading and unloading bus.

  • Provides customer service to passengers.

  • Is familiar with and able to navigate around the metro area.

  • Performs basic care and simple maintenance of vehicle.

Additional Examples of Work Performed

  • Assists with groups, special events and festivals when not driving as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum: High school diploma or G.E.D.; Must be 21 or older and possess a valid CDL with passenger endorsement and CPR/AED certification.

Desired: Two years- experience driving groups of passengers and providing customer service. General parks and recreation experience.

Environment and Physical Factors

This position encounters medium physical work, requiring the ability to drive, the ability to communicate with participants and the ability to assist disabled individuals. Lifting and moving of supplies and materials related to recreation programs, activities and events will be encountered. Long hours of sitting with limited breaks will be encountered during special events shuttling. Other physical requirements include: visual acuity to review information and distinguish traffic signals; hearing and speech ability to give and receive information to the public and co-workers.

Compensation

Starting pay for this position is $18.75 per hour.
