Sulzer is seeking a experienced Buyer specializing in Castings to join our vibrant procurement team in Leeds. As a Senior Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the sourcing and procurement process for casting components, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials while maintaining the highest standards of quality and supplier performance.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for casting materials, including but not limited to ferrous and non-ferrous castings.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new casting suppliers, conducting thorough assessments of capabilities, capacities, and quality assurance processes.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and mitigate risks while maintaining quality standards.
Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including engineering, production, and quality assurance teams, to align procurement activities with project requirements and timelines.
Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and compliance with contractual obligations, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the casting supply chain, leveraging industry best practices and innovative solutions to optimize processes and enhance efficiency.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Previous experience in Procurement with a focus on casting materials within a manufacturing or engineering environment is essential.
Proven track record of sourcing and procuring casting components, including experience with supplier identification, qualification, and contract negotiation.
Strong understanding of casting processes, materials, and specifications, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical requirements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Pragmatic mindset with a focus on driving continuous improvement and achieving operational improvement.
Professional certifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or APICS (Association for Supply Chain Management) desirable.
