Cost Engineer
Location - Leatherhead (we offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements)
Please note applicants must be UK National with a 5 year footprint in the UK in order to obtain the relevant security clearance required for this role.
The Role
KBR is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cost Engineer to join our team. As a Cost Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of our projects, ensuring adherence to budgets, and providing valuable insights to support project management decisions.
Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive program plans, estimates, and baseline budgets to ensure project success
Analyse and validate project costs, monitoring project performance status to identify areas for improvement
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, acting as a project CFO to develop forecasts for cost input and manpower requirements
Provide critical analysis of project cost and schedule performance status, offering insights to optimise project outcomes
Take charge of tracking project funds, ensuring timely notification of fund allocations, managing work at risk situations, and overseeing subcontract funding and de-obligation of funds as needed
Lead the setup and maintenance of financial management systems such as COSTPOINT, COGNOS, and COBRA to ensure compliant forecasting, invoicing, and revenue recognition.
Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to provide accurate and timely forecasts and revenue recognition reports to KBR Corporate
Work closely with the Project Setup Team to maintain accurate project charge numbers, funding information, and POP (Period of Performance) dates in Costpoint
Execute internal controls in alignment with KBR Corporate and SOX guidelines to ensure financial compliance and integrity
What We Need
Proven experience in project control or related roles, with a strong understanding of cost control principles
Degree qualified in maths or engineering preferred
Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools
Proficiency in financial reporting tools and systems
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
