Job Purpose

The Business Intelligence & Insights Analyst is responsible for providing quantitative and qualitative analysis through appropriate reporting and data visualization tactics. This position leverages internal and external business/industry metrics to identify associate and process effectiveness opportunities and presents effective, analytical solutions to business leadership for prioritization and execution. As a data steward in Operations, this role often aggregates numerous disparate inputs from multiple departments and informs the enterprise on the best use of Operations data.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Partners with Operations stakeholders to understand complex business problems. Offers recommendations of appropriate solutions to assist with answering or solving the business problem(s).

  • Contributes and demonstrates the ability to take on a lead role in the design, development, and execution of delivering the appropriate solution(s), tools, reports, and insights based on recommendations offered to Operations stakeholders. A strong focus on transforming data that drive towards deep insights, actionable recommendations, and storytelling.

  • Analyzes disparate and complex data with a focus of identifying business gaps and opportunities leveraging existing and new data.

  • Designs and creates custom reporting to measure, track, and alert stakeholders to track actionable insights.

  • Leverages a consultative approach to recommend best practices, process improvements, and new solutions based on analytic findings of key operating business metrics surrounding financial health, associate and customer experience trends, and other business-related initiatives.

  • Develops presentation-ready, easy-to-maintain data stories leveraging existing and new tools and technologies as appropriate, this includes executive-level dashboards.

  • Participates actively in internal/customer meetings, displaying confidence in offering ideas and suggestions. As appropriate, leads discussions to drive and deliver results.

  • Serves as a relationship partner to Operations, non-Operations departments, and externals contacts. Ability to professionally and confidently interact with individuals at all levels within the organization including take meetings, presentations, feedback sessions, etc.

  • Responsible for facilitating and managing execution of large scale one-time or routine projects/programs such as annual budget planning, associate merit and bonus program, etc. This includes the development, enhancements, and improvement of both tools and processes where appropriate.

  • Serves as a data steward for Operations' owned data classes: Transactional Data, Customer: Policy Holder and Advisor data, and Associate Data. Includes adhering and implementing enterprise-level data governance policies and procedures, establishing Operations specific policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Responsible for facilitating and managing execution of large scale one-time or routine projects/programs such as annual budget planning, associate merit and bonus program, etc. This includes the development, enhancements, and improvement of both tools and processes where appropriate.

  • Owns deliverables, timelines, and communications of progress while applying Agile methodology principles of incremental, business value delivery.

  • Serves as a mentor to analysts within the team by reviewing and providing guidance for projects and cadence reporting they own.

  • Performs core team functions up to include routine reporting, resolving issues, and supporting manual calculations not supported by Jackson administration systems for multiple product lines.

  • Supports testing and analysis of policy system and conversion data across multiple project line to identify critical differences between the source system and the target system. Making recommendations for remedies upon request.

  • Supports senior analysts with the gathering and analysis of complex data to solve Operations’ business problems.

  • Assists in all aspects of vendor and technology assessments.

  • Demonstrates expertise in the use of multiple measurements tools, techniques, and statistical concepts.

  • Applies strategic thinking and understands strategic frameworks within the Jackson organization.

Other Duties

  • Independently derives actionable insights from extracted and manipulated data.

  • Distributes and optimizes routine reporting metrics, tools, and reports to member of Senior Management and Operations business units as required and requested. This includes the maintenance, documentation, and test plans necessary to support developed solutions.

  • Ensure data and reporting is accurate and updated in a timely manner. Recommends and implements new procedures / controls to assure accuracy, efficiency and improved process management.

  • Identifies, researches, and resolves potential issues with data and platforms following appropriate Jackson data policies and procedures.

  • Proactively identifies own learning gaps and seeks to answer them through internal resources, trainings, or asking experts.

  • Conducts internal and external analytics projects upon request.

  • Documents and adheres to corporate and departmental policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge in the use of analytics, programming, and visualization tools including, but not limited to: SaS, Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, Python, SQL, R, other programming languages, etc.

  • Ability to lead projects requiring analysis, visualizations, and tools development with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Must be detail-oriented and well-organized with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong understanding of Operations business processes, data, and reporting tools is required.

  • Ability to adhere to JFI enterprise data governance standards set by the organization including working with confidential information.

  • Ability to analyze 1st, 2nd, 3rd party research.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present complex concepts to all members of the organization is required.

  • Ability to prioritize projects, handle multiple tasks, manage deadlines, and work under pressure.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deliver solutions.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in leveraging/creating spreadsheets for modeling and trend analysis.

  • Ability to mentor and train less experienced analysts.

  • Strong understanding of financial concepts and investment products preferred.

  • Familiar with Agile methodology and design-driven development concepts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Math, Applied Engineering required.

Master's Degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Math, Applied Engineering preferred.

1+ years of data analytics, business intelligence or financial industry experience required.

Financial Services and/or insurance industry experience preferred.
