Peckham Inc. - AmeriCorps Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The AmeriCorps Program Manager is responsible for the program management and on-going maintenance of Peckham’s Economic Opportunity Coaching Program. The AmeriCorps Program Manager is responsible for all aspects of program operation including completion of all AmeriCorps reports, recruiting and hiring AmeriCorps members, managing the program budget, participating in Michigan’s AmeriCorps conferences and events and overseeing activities of the members at multiple locations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administration, coaching, and team building. He/she will have managerial skills and must be able to provide ongoing support to AmeriCorps members who may have limited professional experience, but who are committed to service and to developing a high-quality program. The AmeriCorps Program Manager must be able to work as a part of several teams and must also be able to independently identify and troubleshoot operational challenges. The AmeriCorps Program Manager should also be able to maintain positive relationships with program stakeholders and partners. The AmeriCorps Program Manager must be able to develop short- and long-range action plans for successful member development, including a formal program evaluation. This is a grant funded program.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Recruit and hire AmeriCorps members to serve in a variety of member roles on an ongoing basis throughout each year to keep the requisite number of volunteers in the program.

  • Develop and carry out recruitment, onboarding, training, and support for AmeriCorps members throughout their volunteer time with the program.

  • Supervise AmeriCorps members and provide training and service project opportunities to ensure a meaningful service experience.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations to meet program objectives - partnership deliverables, daily/weekly to-dos, and event coordination.

  • Ensure that outcomes are met, and grant funds are expended.

  • Recruit and train employee partners who act as site supervisors who help to supervise AmeriCorps members on a day-to-day basis.

  • Analyze, ensure alignment with, and report on program data, reviewing and adhering to federal regulations, provisions, CNCS policy updates, MCSC regulations and policy updates, state laws and AmeriCorps administrative requirements to formulate appropriate policies and procedures for the program.

  • Participate in and attend various Michigan’s AmeriCorps events; including but not limited the Russ Mawby Signature Service project.

  • Attend monthly AmeriCorps Program Director meetings.

  • Provide accurate information to the finance department to assist with financial reporting requirements.

  • Manage preparation and submission of quarterly and annual reports on project activities and outcomes, coordinating with Peckham.

  • Maintain and distribute all internal communications about grant activities, forecasts and programming Maintain systems for tracking evaluation and continuous quality improvement (surveys, interviews of stakeholders, etc.).

  • Analyze and evaluate data to measure program impact and identify lessons learned to determine future program direction.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and customer friendly work environment.

  • Promote Peckham’s vision, values, and services to all customers and stakeholders.

  • Assist in maintaining organization wide quality standards.

  • Supports other Talent Development efforts as needed.

  • Other related duties as requested and/or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have supervisory responsibilities, approximately 10-14 FTE AmeriCorps members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 1-3 years of experience supporting and/or working closely with partnerships, customers, or account management.

  • In lieu of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is acceptable.

  • Experience working with or administering an AmeriCorps or volunteer program.

  • 2-4 years’ experience managing others and leading projects.

  • Experience effectively recruiting and marketing a program on an ongoing basis.

  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal awareness to work collaboratively with a diverse set of people across groups and organizational levels; Peckham, Michigan’s AmeriCorps, the MCSC and other local partners.

  • Experience working with grant funded programs and budgets.

  • Excellent writing skills with competence in grammar, sentence structure, and clear, concise documentation.

  • Customer Service focused and ability to foster teamwork with all teams and functional areas Computer proficient with MS Office Word, Power point, Excel and other office business tools.

  • Attention to detail for reporting, problem solving and tracking purposes.

  • Excellent organizational, planning, time management and interpersonal skills Effective collaborator with proven process improvement skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of personal and corporate information.

  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player in a highly visible position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-7 years of experience supporting and/or working closely with partnerships, customers, or account management is highly desired.
