WorkSource Oregon Youth Peer Support Specialist in La Grande, Oregon

Center for Human Development, Inc. is seeking a full-time Youth Peer Support Specialist! The Youth Peer Support Specialist will work to empower youth, with behavioral, mental health, and other challenges by providing a variety of recovery-oriented services to individuals who have self-identified as desiring peer support, in order to promote greater independence, community integration and recovery for mental wellness. The Youth Peer Support Specialist is a direct service position working with youth under 18 who are engaged in SUD service or would benefit from engagement in SUD service. The position works with therapist and treatment team, to promote recovery and help achieve identified goals of recovery. As a CADC, you can meet client needs where they are in the moment which can include assisting them in connecting to inpatient SUD services and provide SUD services readily. Requirements: Minimum of High School Graduate or equivalent. Have familiarity with community resources for youth in recovery. Must have a history of substance use recovery, with at least two years sobriety and/or clean. One year of lived mental health experience and show knowledge of the mental health system and how to navigate it. Prior knowledge of (or experience with) laws and policies related to special education, mental health, SUD and other disabilities, child welfare, and juvenile justice preferred. Must possess a valid Oregon Driver\'s license and be insurable for client service purposes. Must pass all criminal history background investigations as required by ORS 536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 407-007-0200-407-007-0370, and pass a standard drug screening. Possess MHACBO certification as a Certified Recovery Mentor, or complete training and receive certification within 90 days of hire. CADC I or ability to obtain CADC I within one year of employment. Must be able to complete 40 hour Peer Delivered Services training and register as a Traditional Health Worker- Youth Support Partner with The Office of Equity and Inclusion within 90 days of hire. Verifiable abstinence from alcohol and drugs for 2 years. Essential Functions: Effective communication, written and oral. Support the development and connection of youth to natural supports within their community Primarily provides 1:1 pro-social guidance and support for individual consistent with self-directed treatment goals as documented in Individual Service and Support Plan Consider ways to be engaged in purposeful relationships to build stronger, healthier individuals and communities. Complete and submit scheduled reports, timesheets, progress notes, and other paperwork as required Other duties as assigned.
