SACRED CROSS EMS INC Communications Specialist (Dispatcher: Non-Emergent) - Krum in Krum, Texas
Basic Functions :
Primary : Answer telephones, take and gather caller information. Track available units. Dispatch units accordingly. Maintain accurate time records of transport.
Secondary : To support the Supervisor, Dispatch in general, as needed.
Reporting :
The Dispatcher reports directly to the Supervisor, Dispatch (Supervisor).
The following positions report directly to the Dispatcher :
- At this time no personnel report directly to the Dispatcher.
Authorities :
Sacred Cross EMS, Inc. (SC) grants the Dispatcher the authority to exercise the responsibilities, and perform the duties, of your position. This includes full decision-making authority for all responsibilities and duties you manage, within the guidelines established by the Supervisor and other applicable company policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Dispatcher is responsible for the successful performance of the following items: The Supervisor will, at times prescribed by company policy, conduct an evaluation of the Dispatchers job performance based on these items. The Supervisor will rate the Dispatchers performance on a scale of 1 through 5 with 5 being the highest possible score.
- Reporting to work on time according to the assigned schedule prepared to begin his/her duties.
- Ensuring that his/her time in and time out is consistently and accurately recorded for payroll purposes.
- Complying with all published company policies and procedures.
- Maintaining his/her work space in a clean and orderly manner.
- Supporting the Supervisor in the efficient scheduling of manpower, equipment and other assigned resources.
- Addressing and resolving problems concerning his/her areas of responsibility referring only those issues to the Supervisor which require his/her involvement.
- Ensuring the prompt and efficient response and resolution to customer service issues within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Ensuring that work performed consistently meets or exceeds SC and customer expectations.
- Collecting and submitting all required documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintaining consistent effective communications with his/her immediate supervisor or other management personnel as necessary to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintaining positive, productive relationships with other departments and personnel within the company.
- Operating in an ethical manner and in compliance with all established company policies, procedures and standards.
- Continually searching for ways and means to improve the processes and work flow within his/her assigned area of responsibility.
- Coordinating with and training, to the degree required, the person designated by the Supervisor to assume his/her duties in the event of his/her absence.
- Performing various other jobs and assignments as directed.
Qualifications
Requirements :
Education: A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two years of verifiable, directly related experience with an organization similar in business activities to SC is preferred. The ability to work various shift schedules and a high level of computer proficiency is required.
Licenses and Certificates: This position requires a current, valid Operators License issued by his/her state of residence and a driving record acceptable to the companys insurance carrier.
Physical Requirements:

Body Positions:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time. He/she may also be required to sit for prolonged periods of time while completing other duties and responsibilities.
Body Movements:The employee must have a full rang of body movements, including the use of his/her hands to finger, handle, feel and manipulate various equipment. The employee must be able to bend, stoop and crouch.
Body Senses:The employee must have command of the senses of sight, hearing, touch and smell. Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Strength:The employee must have the ability to frequently lift and carry up to twenty-five pounds.
Working Conditions:This employee will primarily be working in a smoke-free, climate controlled, indoors environment. He/she will occasionally be exposed to an indoor vehicle parking and vehicle maintenance environment.
Noise Level:The noise levels for this position will range from low to moderate to high depending upon the job site conditions as described above.
Performance Requirements:
The Dispatcher must meet or exceed all assigned duties and responsibilities at least 95% of the time, without sacrificing quality or safety.
