Opportunity

This Sales Manager position is designed as a multi-store leader who can lead multiple locations in different regional locations with different volume tiered expectations. This Sales Manager will support Distributor Owned Kohler Stores including Kohler Owned stores to ensure each store meets Sales plans, exceeds Service levels with consumer and trade, exceeds Store KPI’s, achieve Margin goals, drive profitability, support hiring, execute training of the team, maintain visual and brand expectations, support and execute operational standards, and follow and implement any policies and procedures while leading to support the Kohler Culture that is collaborative with all partners. With Kohler Owned locations the Sales Manager is directly responsible to attracting, hiring, training, and developing the team and is responsible for a positive store culture and experience, create succession plans, all while meeting budget and profitability expectations. Their market should consistently be meeting all expectations, represent the best venue to experience the Kohler brand, allow for market nuances, and leverage local operator strengths including supporting inventory fulfillment partnerships by store and market.

Specific Responsibilities

Talent and training

  • Responsible for supporting the attracting and hiring of talent and creating strong succession plans using all recruiting options to support having a full and talented team in advance of new store openings.

  • Conducts structured coaching activities (i.e., Business Reviews, Business Planning Sessions, Visit Guides, etc.) for assigned Distributor locations.

  • Collaborate with each owner on the creation and execution of a recruitment and talent strategy, to include the recruitment, hiring, training and development of store management,

  • Ensures stores are using training materials offered, Online training, accountable to create training plans and strategies to onboard new team members, design trends, improves service and selling techniques, and to work on improved performance of key categories and to improve KPI’s.

  • Have strong product knowledge to support and execute training of all Family of Brands products including Kohler, Kallista, Robern, and Ann Sacks and improve the sales journey for the consumer through design suggestions and leading by example.

Sales, Budget, and Service performance

  • Responsible for creating annual strategic and financial plans for each KOHLER Signature Store location to ensure the achievement of sales and KPIs for the market in distributor owned locations.

  • Accountable for the financial responsibility and profitability for each location and achieving personal budgets, through the pro forma and operator’s P&L, including, but not limited to; top line sales, sales mix, gross margin, and operating expenses in distributor owned locations.

  • Identifies root cause issues within each organization and at store levels through insights and data analysis, in-person observations, and stakeholder conversations; conveys to Kohler leadership to gain alignment on action plans in accordance with all business agreement; brings solutions forward.

  • In Distributor owned stores, partners with store owners to detail organizational strengths/weaknesses and assist the ownership in their development of structured business growth plans and objectives within the context of their broader wholesale business.   • Works with store to meet all KPI measured performance expectations that exceed goals by following up and creating strategies and structure to improve performance behaviors.

  • Work with stores to ensure they are meeting service expectations as outlined and measured on NPS review and other service measurements.

  • Work with team to decrease non-productive time and improve scheduling and performance to maximize service and conversion.

  • Work to expand Services to the consumer by growing design service program and installation service and all additional future services to grow market share and improve service.

  • Collaborate with each owner and local Kohler Field Sales team to create and implement a trade outreach plan specific to our target customer.

Visual, Operational, and Marketing execution

  • Support the execution and inspection of Store Brand standards including HYU completion, refresh projects, and ensure basic store standards are meeting expectations to drive volume.

  • Collaborates with store owner and Field Sales to ensure the local inventory supports in-store demand.

  • Acts as the ambassador for digital transformation of connecting stores to broader online initiatives to drive adoption in new systems, software, and tools.Example Salesforce adoption.

  • Work with the Marketing team to support all aspects of marketing in the stores including driving traffic, supporting social campaigns, and working with partners to create events that will support volume growth and brand awareness.

  • Ensure all locations consistently support our marketing campaigns through customer interactions and successful execution of visual direction.

New Stores

  • Responsible for all aspects of new store openings and remodel projects for Distributor owned stores by working closely with corporate team to be on time according to the master project timeline.

  • Is accountable for distributor owned new stores processes including staffing and working through the new store opening procedures in advance of the opening to exceed sales goals and meet budgets.

Kohler Culture and Leadership Accountability

  • Cultivates productive, influential working relationships that yield improved business results.

  • Improves distributor capabilities by leveraging available Kohler Co. tools and resources and best practices across business functions (human resources, marketing, operations, etc.)

  • Protects Kohler Co. brands by identifying and addressing issues that may pose risks to customer experience and ensures brand perceptions are addressed appropriately.

  • Motivate teams and support Kohler Signature Store strategic goals, linking the goals of each individual and location to the goals of the region and organization.

  • Accountable for strengthening brand identity by creating consistency within each store and each owner through personal example, coaching and ensuring visual and operational standards are met; ensure new products and messages are implemented on time.

  • Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with Field Sales and Corporate teams resulting in increased understanding of and successful results in their store business.

  • Create an open and collaborative environment that influences the greater team through action and example and results in cascading knowledge and best practices throughout the organization.

  • Facilitate and participate in market meetings and conference calls to provide partnership and create solutions to address business needs.

Skills/Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree, MBA or continued graduate education preferred.

  • 5+ years in retail multi-store leadership position which should include omni-channel focus.

  • Home décor design focused product experience, home improvement, luxury categories preferred.

  • Worked in leadership role with direct reports and has experience attracting talent, coaching and developing a team, and promoting top performers.

  • Strong business acumen and ability to identify root causes and key performance indicators using supporting data to drive decision-making and recommendations.

  • Entrepreneurial problem solver able to prioritize issues to allocate time effectively.

  • Deeply understands key performance drivers of retail operations.

  • Flexible thinker capable of addressing diverse retail issues.

  • Collaborative individual that works with distributors to cultivate knowledge sharing.

  • Trustworthy, influential coach that can build skills and capabilities.

  • We are looking for this Sales Manager to be in stores 75% of the time. They would need to be able to travel to all assigned stores, to Kohler WI for meetings, and travel to new stores to support teams and sales performance.

The salary range for this position is $148,250 - $191,850. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
