Job Summary

Essential duties include performing pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code. The stress work includes the modeling of the piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads. Work closely with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required. #LI-SNH

This role will be based in Knoxville, TN with periodic business travel, as required.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code. The stress work includes the modeling of the piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.

  • Work closely with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.

  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.​

  • Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance​.

  • Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements​.

  • Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements​.

  • Prepares building material interface details for review by senior personnel​.

  • Participates in studies that require knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in plant design and piping work​.

  • Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements​.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree in engineering and 5-8 years of relevant experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • This role requires a facility-specific clearance that requires U.S. Citizenship.

  • Good knowledge of ASME B31.3 and/or B31.1 and other relevant industry piping codes and standards.

  • Prior experience using pipe stress analysis programs.

  • PE Registration.

Additional Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Prior experience using AutoPipe for pipe stress analysis.

  • Previous Bechtel project experience.

  • Previous DOD/DOE project experience.
