Who will you be working with? Reporting to the Vice President, Regional Services - Asia Pacific. As a Project Director (ANZ) The role oversees the leadership and management of all Projects and Project Contract Management related activities across Wabtec Australia.

Where is the position located? This is full time position at our office in Rydalmere (NSW) and Keysborough (Victoria)

Scope/Job Objective:

Ensuring optimal performance within the project portfolio within the QCD (quality, cost, delivery), safety requirements and constraints, leadership and mentoring of the team of Project and Contract Managers, maintenance, and continuous improvement, and ensuring development of the project portfolio in line with the core values and mission of Wabtec Australia.

The effectiveness of this position is primarily measured by the successful achievement of individual project objectives across the portfolio, in addition to the performance of the organisational project portfolio.

Balancing the need to maintain and nurture key customer relationships on a strategic level, maximising opportunity, and profitability within projects, and contributing to the overall success of Wabtec Australia achieving its organisational mission and objectives.

Other success factors include the development of a high-performance team of Project Managers, and contribution at a senior management level to Wabtec Australia.

Act as the prime interface with the Transit Project & Contract Management Team in order align and cascade key strategic initiatives and comply with the Transit Project Execution Governance & Reporting requirements.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Abide by all Wabtec Company Values, Code of ethics and operates within the Wabtec Quality Management standards, guidelines and procedures.

  • Effective leadership and management of the Project Management team to achieve delivery of projects to Customers in line with Safety, Quality, Delivery and Contract Management targets.

  • Oversees Projects financial performance, as measured by the project financial costs statements and other measurements (such as inventory, cash collection, risk and opportunity analyses as well as Contract Margin Improvement Proogram), in line with budgets and plans.

  • Project performance measurements (non-financial) including Gate Review status and on-time submission of project deliverables (Non-Recurring and Recurring). This also includes monitoring the performance the Wabtec Project & Contract Management processes for critical projects across all involved Transit Product Lines.

  • Project Team performance, including adherence to the Project Management Wabtec Management System Standards, Core Team Deliverables Checklist, meeting goals, adherence to plans, Continuous Improvement activities and behaviour in line with the company’s Values.

  • Drive the development and improvement of project management processes and systems and ensure adherence to the processes and systems by all parties.

  • Delivery of the consolidated Project Portfolio sales forecasts for Wabtec Australia on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis, through the effective management and ongoing improvement of the Sales & Operations Planning process. This applies across Product Lines as a Lead and Sisco entity.

  • Participate in the compilation of the P&CM budgets and forecasts and report to the Leadership team and Wabtec Australia (where required) on performance to budget and forecast.

  • Effectively lead and manage the Project Management employees to foster an environment that promotes and encourages operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement within the various operational functions.

  • Process all project sales orders from order intake processing to delivery for OE and After Market activities.

  • Mentoring and maintenance of a high-performance team of Project Managers, with a focus on continual individual and team improvement & development

  • Provision of support to the Sales/Tender teams in tender development, particularly in the areas of stakeholder management, risk identification, cost estimation and management of engineering input.

  • Continuous improvement and development of the established Wabtec Australia PM framework of processes, tools, and documentation, and ensure adherence of process requirements by the Project Managers

  • Reporting of Transit project performance to Wabtec Australia management in accordance with reporting requirements and templates

  • Perform as member of the Project Management Committee (PMC), to conduct, contribute and approve all Project Gate Reviews and milestone reviews.

  • Chair monthly Project Progress Reviews and maintain responsibility for final review of all submissions by the Project Managers prior to review at a senior management level.

  • Review and approval within the Tender Appraisal Approval workflow.

  • Positively operate in a changing environment and commit to be held accountable.

  • Undertake such other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time-to-time by the other nominated representatives of the Company.

  • Lead team and mentor program managers on creating integrated program management plans, leading, managing, monitoring, and controlling all project work.

  • Ensure Successful completion of programs and effectively handoff to the services teams.

  • Evaluate and prioritize lessons learned driving action to improve product and business processes.

  • Manage program scope changes and act as business tollgate approver.

  • Review and ensure compliance to detailed and harmonized program schedules. Drive milestone schedule adherence for proposals.

  • Drive Project revenue, cash, and margins. Help team to develop program financial forecasts.

  • Incorporate the quality policy regarding planning, managing, and controlling project and product quality requirements.

  • Facilitate customer inspections, testing, and overall acceptance of Project Scope and contract deliverables.

  • Ensure timely / appropriate program communications with customers as well as critical project commercial and execution issues resolution process with the Customer.

  • Maintain program risk and opportunity registers. Monitor and ensure mitigation of program risks. Identify and drive Project opportunities to improve Project Margins.

  • Identify the people, groups, or organizations impacted by the project. Analyze and manage stakeholder expectations.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's degree Engineering, Project Management or equivalent.

  • Confirmed experience in Rail, Infrastructure or similar.

  • Confirmed experience managing high performance teams and demonstrated ability to develop teams

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Project Portfolio Management or equivalent

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Strong financial acumen

  • Strong competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project

  • Experience with Profit & Loss accountability in a global International context

  • Confirmed experience in commercial operations, contract management and negotiations
