POSITION PURPOSE
Performs billing and clerical functions necessary to bill and collect for physician services processed by the Physician’s Billing Department.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED
High School or Equivalent (GED)
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
3 months – 1 year

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED
Previous experience at a physician office or hospital-billing department.
Demonstrates knowledge of procedure and diagnosis coding.
Ability to read, write, speak, hear and comprehend the English language.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from the Electronic Health System software while sitting at a desk for long periods of time performing keyboard functions.
Communicates and develops a working/problem solving relationship with co-workers, physician office staff, and insurance companies.
Utilizes telephone skills to allow for courteous and professional contact with patients, insurance companies, and physician offices.
Accurately enters pertinent information into the billing software.
Retrieves needed information from clinic sites to resolve problem accounts.
Accesses and retrieves information from the Hospital’s computer network systems.
Accesses and retrieves information from various insurance website’s to verify claim and eligibility status along with carrier submission guidelines.
Accurately appeals problem claims with appropriate insurance companies.
Researches and resolves overpayments.
