Amentum Flow Manager, Senior in Kennedy Space Center, Florida

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Flow Manager position in support of Exploration Ground Systems Orion Spacecraft Operations, including leading the COMET Team during Landing & Recovery operations in the Pacific Ocean and ORION processing at the MPPF.
Assigned shift may be adjusted/changed as necessary to meet our dynamic processing schedules and customer needs.
Responsibilities
Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
• Flow management operational leadership functions that can be performed effectively by expertise gained through experience that may include designing and developing plans, processes, procedures, and planning data requirements analysis.
• Knowledge of company operational and safety procedures, policies, and plans.
• Perform conventional flow management schedule assessments by integrating and assisting other senior-level flow managers with direction/assistance as-needed.
• Routinely interface with organizational management to assure proper planning, prioritizations, resource allocations and support for processing activities.
• Communicates with other flow managers, and Program Office personnel, for schedule validation and resource sharing, planning, and prioritizations.
• Drive lessons learned for specific processing events to ensure the team is always looking to continuously improve operational processing.
• Lead daily scheduling meetings for assigned program element.
• Perform complex flow management schedule assessments by integrating and assisting other senior-level flow managers with minimal direction/assistance.
• Drive element site level assessments to account for requirement content and contract change requests to identify the new potential plan and any associated risks.
• Maintain expert-level knowledge with the company's operational and safety procedures, policies, and plans.
• Chair daily and near-term scheduling meetings for assigned program element.
• Develop and execute schedules and lead operational teams during ORION Landing & Recovery and ORION processing operations at the Multi-Payload Processing Facility (MPPF).
• Lead teams to develop and implement executable plans; determine personnel requirements and assignments and evaluate results.
• Chair/Co-chair daily scheduling meetings for assigned processing area of responsibility.
• Attend and present processing status at various senior management meetings and forums.
• Landing & Recovery requires travel multiple times a year to Navy Base San Diego, as well as days at sea on a US Navy ship supporting operations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
The candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution , and at least seven (7) years of experience in progressively challenging technical or management positions.
Job Requirements
• Possess direct experience with developing and integrating detailed plans/schedules for complex projects.
• Must have the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to direct the work of others.
• Launch & Recovery, Multi-Payload Processing Facility, and KSC operational processing integration experience is desired.
• Must have the ability to support Launch & Recovery operations for up to ten (10) days at sea.
• If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
Physical Requirements
• May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
• Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
• Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
• Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
• May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
• Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
• Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
• Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
• All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
Equipment and Machines
• Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
• Variety of equipment used in testing.
Attendance
• Full-time work hours.
• Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
• Must be dependable and punctual.
• Shift work may be required.
Other Essential Functions
• Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
• Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
• Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
• Government security clearance may be required in the future.
• Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
