Role Overview

As a House Manager/Float Pool Registered Nurse, you will support the organization's operations and patient care services. You will utilize effective leadership skills to support staff, solve problems, and make appropriate decisions. This role involves providing immediate administrative and clinical leadership to unit staff and ancillary departments, coordinating hospital-wide activities to resolve issues, often in the absence of unit leaders. You will work both independently and collaboratively, demonstrating competencies specific to the patient population served.

 

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the state of Michigan.
  • Overall knowledge of disaster planning and certification in IS courses is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs for record-keeping.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from various computer systems and equipment associated with patient care.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, especially when handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability to work under mentally and visually tiring conditions, involving considerable standing or walking, lifting lightweight objects, and assisting with heavier tasks such as lifting and moving patients.

Key Responsibilities

Hospital Operations: Coordinate and oversee hospital operations, providing administrative direction.

Crisis Management: Resolve crises and conflicts, provide analysis, assessment, and intervention for urgent problems, and inform department managers and directors of resolutions.

Patient and Staff Relations: Investigate complaints from patients, visitors, physicians, and staff, and implement appropriate actions and follow-ups.

Safety and Environment: Assess the hospital environment for safety concerns and take appropriate action. Attend and lead Safety Check-In Meetings.

Admissions and Transfers: Coordinate placement of all admissions and transfers, communicate with Bronson First for regional transfers, collaborate with physicians and Rapid Response for optimal patient placement, and monitor hospital capacity.

Staffing and Resources: Lead Bed Planning Meetings, ensure appropriate staff placement, and manage throughput to avoid patient placement delays. Coordinate communication with outside organizations.

Disaster Response: Manage initial response in the event of a disaster, crisis, or emergency, notifying the incident commander and coordinating activities until their arrival.

Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures, including the Substance Abuse Policy, and handle testing for reasonable suspicion of abuse.

Employee Incident Management: Answer calls for the Employee Incident Hot Line after hours, on weekends, and holidays, providing initial triage and directing employees to ER as appropriate.

Bed Bug Management: Identify bed bugs in conjunction with the EVS manager, coordinate notification and ensure room sealing post-discharge.
