Job Description:

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall technical leadership and direction for all aspects of management from Concept Design to Design completions and during the Construction phase of the Projects under a major Program.

  • Provide management and direction for the Core Technical Team and supports the work of Project Design Managers.

  • Develop and implement the strategy for design from concept to completion, technical guidance during construction ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.

  • Oversee the work of General Contractors, ensuring that all Program’s activities are executed to the highest standards of quality and safety. Address and resolve any construction-related issues or challenges that arise.

  • Manage all engineering and design efforts for all disciplines required for the program.

  • Manages the review and approve of all Projects’ designs, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with design consultants to address any technical challenges or issues that arise.

  • Ensure that all Program’s designs incorporate best practices and innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes. Coordinates all discipline technical reviews for the program.

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on all design methodologies, collaborating with the relevant engineering teams, design consultants to ensure that plans result in a structurally sound outcome.

  • Establishes the program requirements for assigned project areas and is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of

  • Project design briefs for team reference.

  • Third party design consultant’s project KPIs and design deliverables in support of the design brief.

  • Leading and administering value management and value engineering activities, and ensures overall design and manufacturing solutions fully address and incorporate base build architectural, structural, MEP considerations and Rides and Attractions requirements

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all Program ‘s -related stakeholders, including Client, government authorities, contractors, and others as required. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure their support and cooperation throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Monitor the quality and progress of the discipline on each project, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied.

  • Develop Project Design Management Plan, Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.

  • Develop procedures, manuals, work instructions for the disciplines.

  • Continuous improvements to plans, procedures and guidelines.

  • Works closely with Project Managers/Directors to resolve any existing or foreseeable problems related to discipline staffing, quality of work, schedule performance, or productivity.

  • Actively participates in and promotes the Quality Improvement Program.

  • Reviews and approves discipline staffing budget estimates and staffing assignment schedules on each project and on Program level.

  • Recruits, interviews, and evaluates prospective employees. Offers personnel professional development, conducts performance evaluations, takes corrective actions (as required).

  • Ensure that all works in Program meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

  • Prepare and present periodic reports to summarize design/construction activity progress for senior internal management in addition to external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architectural or Engineering in related industry with 20+ years of experience. A minimum 5 years of experience within a role of similar seniority.

  • Extensive experience with the design and construction phase of the project

  • 10+ years of related engineering and design management experience on large scale programs in Buildings/Facilities (retail, hospitality, tall tower, Entertainment, Theme Parks etc.) large scale projects; management of international design consultants is desirable.

  • Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.

  • Experience with Building, Entertainment industry, Theme Parks projects is highly desirable.

  • Effective skills for client presentations, technical reporting, and internal/external correspondence

  • Ability to effectively present information to key stakeholders as required by the client

  • Ability to function in a multi-organizational environment by developing relationships that complies with the client’s proactive, collaborative culture.

  • Professional registration (CEng PE, AIA or equivalent) preferred
