General position summary:

Supervises daily activities of team in the claims department. Monitors the claims team daily workload and reprioritize efforts based on levels of importance and urgency to meet deadlines and ensures progress towards weekly goals. Maintains a working knowledge of relevant regulations and ensure compliance among team. Manages, researches, and resolves complex and occasionally highly complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a working knowledge of relevant regulations and ensure compliance among team

  • Monitors the claims team daily and weekly workload and reprioritize efforts based on levels of importance and urgency to meet deadlines and ensures progress towards weekly goals and KPIs

  • Manages, researches, and resolves complex and occasionally highly complex customer communications, concerns, conflicts or issues

  • Maintains direct reports’ time, adherence and attendance

  • Audits team’s claims on a weekly basis to ensure quality and provide feedback

  • Organizes and provides monthly KPIs to management for monthly 1 on 1 sessions

  • Assists in development of best practices and training for team

  • Assist in employee performance evaluation, promotion, retention and termination activities

  • Reviews management review queue for approval or revision and feedback as needed

  • Provide support to managers as requested

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises employees in the claims department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Education & Experience:

  • Associates business degree preferred; three to five years + experience in claims environment; or closely related customer service industry required; highly customer service oriented; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TRAVEL:

  • No travel required.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Operations:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to learn and effectively use software applications such as move management, accounting/billing, HRIS, timekeeping and other applications used in the performance of job duties.

Planning/Organization:

  • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as situations and needs change throughout the workday

  • Ability to multi-task and organize workflow to manage daily responsibilities, meet deadlines and prioritize work
