This is a Remote Associate Director, AP Permissions & Licensing position.

 

Summary: The Assoc Director, AP Permissions Licensing, will oversee the provision of third-party copyright permissions for all AP assessment products across all courses. You will work closely with AP Permissions staff, content teams, and project managers managing each course's assessment production efforts to build and execute a copyright plan that balances the needs and priorities of various stakeholders.  As Director, AP Assessment Permissions Management, you are an integral member of the cross-functional team building and delivering AP Exams. You are a collaborative, insightful, and highly-motivated professional, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for educational opportunity. You are not shy about digging into ambiguity and you are quick to propose more efficient ways of getting things done.

 

Responsibilities: Manage scheduling and communications for AP Assessment Permissions (40%); Partner with AP content teams to build and maintain detailed copyright schedules and documentation. Liase with Assessment Production project managers to ensure that permissions requests are submitted with proper timing in the process, excerpts submitted, and process adheres to workflow. Establish scope and timelines in collaboration with Assessment Production colleagues and other cross-functional teams; estimate the time and level of effort required to complete projects. Make informed, independent judgment calls on permissions and content issues; escalate issues and steer to higher-level resolution when needed. Report on progress, at regular intervals, in writing and via scheduled meetings; ensure that all team members are aware of potential risks and propose alternative solutions. Lead migration of legacy Permissions information (30%); Serve as primary contact for communications with external vendors regarding the transfer of permissions data from historical AP exam development work. Develop process to receive historical permissions information, including tracking sheets, contracts, and image files. Work with AP staff to identify what permissions information is needed, and liaise with ETS staff to ensure requirements are understood. Develop and communicate project plan for delivery of permissions information in concert with broader Assessment Production efforts. Plan, facilitate, and document Permissions workflows and timing (30%);  Work across the broader Assessment Production team to document and iterate on current work management practices. Develop and disseminate reference documents and job aids, including checklists, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents, and relevant templates, to support common understanding between existing team members and onboarding of new members. Share recommendations for process and tool improvements on an ongoing basis. Work with content and technical teams to ensure that items placed on a form have permissions cleared. Ensure that all team members are aware of potential risks and propose alternative solutions

 

Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (required). 5+ years of relevant product and/or project management experience, preferably in the education industry. Experience with copyright permissions and / or licensing required.   Ability to process and distill large volumes of data and draw insightful conclusions to drive decision-making.  High degree of personal ownership and accountability to consistently deliver results in a fast-paced environment.  A detail-driven, process-oriented mindset. An ability to embrace ambiguity and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar tasks. Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships at all levels of the organization. Willingness and ability to travel domestically 1-2 times per quarter. Authorized to work in the United States.
