Hyatt Chief Engineer - Vacation Rental Facility Management in ISLE OF PALMS, South Carolina

Overview: The Chief Engineer - Vacation Rental Facility Management oversees all aspects of engineering and maintenance for the vacation rental and property management divisions. This role works closely with the housekeeping department to ensure a seamless and high-quality guest experience. The Chief Engineer is responsible for creating a work environment that promotes integrity, fosters teamwork, recognizes initiative, and ensures excellence throughout the property.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Direct and manage all engineering functions related to the vacation rental and property management business. Oversee expense management, forecasting, and budgeting for these departments, working closely with Vacation Rental Housekeeping.

  • Budgeting and Staffing: Develop, recommend, implement, and manage the annual budget for engineering and housekeeping labor and expenses. Manage the monthly forecast for FTEs, labor productivity, and expense management. Continuously seek ways to increase productivity and improve profit margins.

  • Industry Knowledge: Stay informed of industry trends and current technology to maximize revenue and maintain a competitive position.

  • Training Programs: Develop, implement, and monitor training programs to ensure the highest level of customer service and cleanliness throughout the department. Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to cleanliness and maintenance standards.

  • Customer Satisfaction: Resolve customer complaints and follow up on comment cards and feedback to maintain high customer satisfaction.

  • Staff Coordination: Schedule and conduct department meetings to motivate and prepare staff, ensure shift change updates, realign department goals, and increase accuracy and productivity. Oversee the Vacation Rental Engineering/Property Management’s coordinator position (dispatch) to ensure cooperation and coordination between the hotel and home housekeeping divisions.

  • Lost and Found: Oversee lost and found procedures for all housekeeping areas.

  • Asset Management: Recommend to the Director of Operations and Director of Facility Operations any needed replacement of FF&E or areas negatively affecting customer satisfaction.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with vendors, outside contractors, and service providers for the housekeeping department.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop, communicate, and execute quarterly plans and actions in coordination with the Director of Operations, Director of Facility Operations, and Resort General Manager.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Operations, Director of Facility Operations, and Resort General Manager.

This role requires a proactive leader who can manage multiple responsibilities and departments, ensuring the highest standards of operation and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications:

· Minimum 3 years in hotel or Resort Facilities or Engineering Management.

· Knowledge of Vacation Rental/Property Management Engineering preferred.

· Strong interpersonal & communication skills, bi-lingual preferred.

· Must have a good driving record that meets company standards.

· Must be knowledgeable in sanitation and safety compliance requirements.

· Must be able to work a flexible work week (days, nights, weekends, holidays).

· Must have the physical ability to do some cleaning, lifting, pushing carts, moving furniture, loading laundry bags, and usage of equipment.
