Abbott House Director of SPDD in Irvington, New York

Job Summary

In conjunction with Agency Leadership, the Director of Services for People with Developmental Disabilities sets the direction and structure of SPDD Services. The Director of SPDD Is responsible for the overall management of community-based residences and day habilitations serving people with developmental disabilities including regulatory compliance and fiscal viability. Provides direct supervision, guidance, mentoring and development of subordinate staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, decision-making and oversight to Assistant Directors, Nursing Coordinator, Administrative Operations and Project Manager and Compliance Standards Manager.

  • Play a key role within the senior management team, working collaboratively with other team members to set and achieve organizational goals and objectives.

  • Assist Vice President of Programs with objectives for the division consistent with organizational goals and mission, communicates the strategy for completion throughout the division and leads team toward reaching goals.

  • Direct personnel processes, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orientation, assignment, supervision, training, implementing progressive discipline and monitoring of performance appraisals.

  • Analyze various sources of data and prepares detailed reports for use in decision-making and strategic planning by executive leadership as assigned.

  • Assist in planning, preparing, monitoring and administering the department budget including overtime.

  • Ensure compliance with current and future OPWDD, Agency and other regulatory policies, procedures and standards. Conducts regular on-site visits to each residence to assess effectiveness as well as physical plant issues.

  • Ensure the provision of services in an environment that preserves and enhances the health and safety of all individuals supported. Promotes a culture of safety, both in awareness and action.

  • Perform all necessary activities assigned to further the agency’s mission

About You

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Master’s degree and five years' experience in an OPWDD certified setting in a supervisory capacity. BA and ten years' experience in an OPWDD certified setting in a supervisory capacity.

  • 2-3 years of administrative, clinical, and supervisory/managerial experience.

Experience:

  • Working knowledge of developmental disabilities

  • Experience managing a team

  • Experience using Excel and electronic health care systems to review and manage data preferred

  • Experience providing service coordination and information, linkages, and referrals for community-based services

  • Ability to travel to community-based agency offices and residences

  • Proven decisiveness, motivational, and developmental skills; management abilities, including meeting deadlines, ensuring compliance with agency policies and procedures, and overseeing complete and timely maintenance of agency records, in accordance with contractual requirements

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
