Actalent Water Resources Engineer in Irvine, California

Water Resources EngineerJob Description:

As a Water Resources Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing water systems. Your responsibilities will span various stages of water-related projects, from initial planning to project completion. Here are the key aspects of your role:

  • Hydrogeologic Conceptual Models and Numerical Models:

  • Develop and implement hydrogeologic conceptual models.

  • Create water balances and numerical models to assess water availability and usage patterns.

  • Reports and Studies:

  • Prepare comprehensive reports and studies, including SGMA-compliant groundwater sustainability plans.

  • Contribute to water supply assessments, urban water management plans, and water supply strategies.

  • Effective Communication:

  • Craft well-written documents and deliver effective presentations.

  • Communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

  • Project Support:

  • Collaborate with project managers and senior staff.

  • Assist in project scheduling, budget tracking, and progress reporting.

Top Skills Required:

  • Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of numerical groundwater modeling, water resources planning, data management, and technical writing1.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, with 5 or more years preferred.

  • Experience as an engineer, planner, or hydrogeologist working on water resources projects1.

  • Regulatory Familiarity:

  • Knowledge of California groundwater regulations, including the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), Urban Water Management Planning Act, and Senate Bill 610 requirements1.

  • Communication Skills:

  • Effective communication (both written and oral) to convey technical information clearly1.

  • Collaboration:

  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, work independently, and collaborate with project teams1.

  • Educational Background :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or related fields1.

  • Software Proficiency:

  • Experience with tools such as ArcGIS, MODFLOW, Python, R, MODFLOW6, IWFM, PEST, and Microsoft Access (preferred)1.

  • Driver’s License:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
