BioDot is uniquely focused on the specialized requirements of Rapid Test / BioSensor / Lyophilization and Clinical Laboratory development and manufacturing environments. BioDot is currently experiencing growth and we currently have the immediate need for a Field Service Engineer to work out of our Irvine, California headquarters. Engineers will be trained at Irvine, and work with a collaborative team to resolve instrumentation issues and support BioDot’s customer database.

The role of theAssembly Technicianis to lead and perform all shipping tasks daily and support required receiving tasks.

  • Accurately and efficiently assemble/test a variety of moderately complex products to achieve customer quality and on-time delivery schedules.

  • May perform cable and harness assembly, first stage sub-assembly, and base quality functions.

  • Work on products that contain mechanical components, motor systems, electrical wiring, and multiple part numbers.

  • Actively contribute to product improvement suggestions to increase productivity and reduce costs.

  • Receive general supervisory guidance.

  • Perform moderately complex assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.

  • Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings & schematics, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications, customer requirements, and quality directives.

  • Produce and inspect assemblies that conform to product specifications. Assembles, tests, and/or solders to customer and/or industry standards.

  • Perform minor mechanical modifications such as drilling, tapping, grinding, etc.

  • Observe all safety rules and maintain a clean, organized work area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • High school diploma required; Associate degree in logistics or management is a plus.

  • Five (5) + years of directly related experience.

  • Must be hands-on and must be able to meet deadlines for his or her responsibilities either directly or indirectly.

  • Ability to work well with all levels of the business, from line-level to General Manager, with good communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Leadership abilities including being oriented to solving problems in a collaborative manner.

  • Three or more years industry related experience in assembly/test in a manufacturing environment.

  • Must possess strong mechanical reasoning.

  • Able to select appropriate procedures, techniques, tools, and equipment.

  • Must be able to read electrical schematic diagrams.

  • Proficient in reading and understanding mechanical drawings, route sheets, and test specifications.

  • Perform basic mathematical calculations and demonstrate effective verbal, written, and basic computer skills.

  • Able to interpret reports and use standard business software applications.

  • Able to use employee self-service to access labor hours recorded.

  • Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

  • Possess effective interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.

Location:

Onsite in Irvine, CA and requires the candidate to work independently, be organized, and work professionally with many departments within the organization.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.

  • Visual acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens.

  • Hearing ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.

  • Working conditions – The employee is subject to exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when working on the manufacturing floor.

  • Physical lifting up to approximately 50 -75 pounds on occasion.

  • Will frequently be required (up to 75% of work shift) to be involved in pushing, pulling, or reaching during assembly and production process.

  • Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
