Job Description:

Primary Purpose of Role:

As the Supervisor, Reliability & Apprenticeship Programs, you will be a leader in Allison Transmission's dedication to operational excellence by helping create and deploy a professional manufacturing maintenance system. Initial focus will be to craft a world class apprenticeship training system in partnership with the United Autoworkers Union and supervising apprentices through the process. This role will also partner with the plant-based manufacturing maintenance organizations to revise and refine spare parts and preventative maintenance programs for capital asset families using Failure, Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) process. Your role within the Global Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement team is crucial for a skilled training transformation and delivering a consistent, properly scoped preventative maintenance program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and promote the company’s values of quality, integrity, innovation, customer focus, and teamwork.

  • Key member of team that will revise and redeploy the apprenticeship training program.

  • Supervise 12-25 skilled trades apprentices through incumbent and new programs.

  • Collaborate with Plant Maintenance Teams to perform FMECA on critical asset equipment families.

  • Utilizing Maximo Asset Templates, ensure that correct spare parts have been identified and are stocked with consistent PMs deployed per FMECA findings.

  • Develop a clear vision and strategy for the implementation of the Allison Operational Excellence System (AOES) with a focus on the three TPM pillars.

  • Support the wider deployment of problem solving via Root Cause Analysis (PDCA and 4D).

  • Analyse data from global operations to identify areas for reliability improvement.

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through sustainable maintenance processes.

  • Report metrics and performance to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders.

Key Performance Measures:

The success of the Supervisor, Reliability & Apprenticeship Programs at Allison Transmission can be measured through the following five major key performance indicators (KPIs):

Operational Excellence Alignment: Creation and deployment of a technical measurement and evaluation process for apprentices and perspective skilled trades hires.

Team Performance: Ensure apprentices are progressing through their respective programs to schedule, delivering high scholastic performance, and acquiring the required technical skills.

Data-Driven Impact: FMECA on 80% of A&B Machine families across commercial plants with resulting spare parts and PM enhancements.

Stakeholder Engagement: Positive engagement from stakeholders driving a culture of continuous improvement.

Cost Reduction: Target projects to reduce maintenance material spend or improve manufacturing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Supervision or a related field.

  • Skilled Trade Journeyperson.

Preferred:

  • Certifications in CMRP, CMRT, PMP, Six Sigma.

Experience:

Required:

  • 1+ years of experience as an industrial maintenance planner or supervisor.

  • 5+ years of experience in data driven problem solving.

  • Experience with Maximo CMMS or similar systems.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years supervisory experience

  • Experience managing skilled trades apprenticeship program.

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations

  • 10 + years of experience manufacturing continuous improvement.

  • Manufacturing Technology: Expert level knowledge of PLC/CNC machine operation, appropriate preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and the skills required to diagnose and repair.
