SAIC Production Engineer in INDEPENDENCE, Missouri

Description

SAIC is seeking a Production Engineer to join our team in Independence, Missouri.

The Production Engineer shall serve as the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP) Production Integration Engineer for PM MAS. Duty station is LCAAP, Independence, MO.

Job Responsibilities :

  • The LCAAP Production Integration Engineer will provide real time engineering analysis, oversight and reporting on products and processes transitioning to production at LCAAP (including all Next Generation family of ammunition items).

  • Participates in planning, design, and facilitization activities of new equipment, processes, and infrastructure in support of significant RTD&E upgrades of existing facilities or design and implementation of new small caliber ammunition production capabilities and products into LCAAP.

  • Interfaces with pertinent Government stakeholders, to include the Product Manager Small Caliber, U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC), LCAAP Government staff, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and Joint Munitions Command (JMC), in the performance of these efforts.

  • Performs independent engineering evaluations of technical or process problems impacting delivery of small caliber ammunition or transition of Next Generation process and/or products.

  • Supports the LCAAP requirements analysis of existing building, process and equipment relative to projected needs to support the transition to production of Next Generation ammunition products.

  • Communicates identified voids with the PM MAS leadership and assists in the development of a Next Generation integration master plan.

  • Reviews transition project proposals associated with Next Generation Family of Ammunition candidate projects for consideration for Army or joint funding.

  • Provides onsite monitoring of transition activities on Army funded projects and programs.

  • Witnesses significant project events, e.g. prove out of new processes, new equipment and tests of Next Generation product(s), including those scheduled on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

  • Attends IPT weekly meetings; continuously tracks progress of IPT actions, and Army organizational commitments, facilitates resolution of administrative or contractual problems, and highlight unresolved issues that threaten planned production or project transition milestones.

  • Research manufacturing and product performance data for Product Manager, Small Caliber, which will help evaluate or support Engineering Change Proposals, Requests for Waivers or Deviations associated with current and Next Generation equipment, processes, and product.

  • Travels to attend meetings, conferences or training on topics associated with small caliber ammunition as required.

Qualifications

Required Education :

Bachelors and fifteen (15) years or more related experience; Masters and thirteen (13) years or more experience; PhD or JD and ten (10) years or more experience; four (4) years of experience considered in lieu of degree.

Qualifications :

  • Responsible for the technical aspects of each project.

  • Capable of system conceptualization, system level requirements definition and system test and evaluation.

  • Familiar with probability, reliability, statistical analysis methods, sampling and test and evaluation. techniques, data collection and applicable regulations and standards.

  • At least five (5) years in managing a professional staff must be demonstrated.

Candidate must have experience and skills necessary to perform the following tasks

  1. Primary contributor in application of engineering and scientific principles to meet technical requirements.

  2. Develop technical concepts, plan for implementation, monitor technical progress, design tests, assess performance data, and develop solutions to technical problems.

  3. Assist other technical employees by providing expert advice training, and technical guidance necessary in areas listed in scope

  4. Author, edit and contribute to production of technical reports and other technical products, such as overall project concepts and descriptions, test plans and technical reports.

Clearance:

Candidate must be able to obtain a full Secret clearance; Minimum of an Interim Secret clearance is required to start.
