Since 1968, LCIF has awarded more than $1 billion in grants, helping combat vision problems, provide valuable life skills to youth, respond to major catastrophes, and build programs to address the needs of at-risk and vulnerable populations. LCIF is also working to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve the quality of life for those living with the disease. In addition, the foundation is expanding its global causes to include childhood cancer, hunger and the environment while raising funds to empower even more service from Lions.

These are not things that any one Lion, club or district can do alone. But together, we can. We are currently looking for a Technical Advisor (TA) to consult with Lions on the compliance, development, implementation, and evaluation of need-based projects for the soon-to-come vision grant program.

 

Position Highlights:

The Technical Advisor (TA) serves as a consultant to Lions Clubs on the compliance, development, implementation and evaluation of need-based service result-oriented projects for the vision grant program.

The mission of the vision grant program is to support the development or improvement of eye care service provision to contribute to reduce vision loss and blindness and to assist people who live with permanent vision loss. The TA reports to the Manager of the LCIF Global Grant Division. The role is a part-time independent contractor position, including monthly professional fees and reimbursable travel expenses.

This position, remote and open worldwide, will cover high income countries in various geographic regions (i.e., Asia, America, Europe).

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Advocacy and information sharing as opportunity arises:

  • Present the LCIF vision grant program scope and purpose,

  • Illustrate opportunity to engage.

  • Clarify requirements and criteria.

  • Present the process and due diligence.

  • Project Development

  • Serve as a resource person to Lions Clubs who are interested in conducting a vision project by providing technical support and input into the development and implementation of need-based vision projects.

  • Verify the compliance of the need-based vision projects with the vision grant program criteria.

  • Support Lions in the submission of proposals by assisting in the technical aspects, the preparation of the budget and all other data required.

  • Collaborate with LCIF staff in evaluating projects’ compliance with regards to the vision grant program criteria.

  • Project Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monitor progress by visiting project sites, as required.

  • Submit a written summary of the site visit.

  • If requested, contribute to reviewing reports submitted to LCIF by Lions and their partners if any.

  • Contribute to evaluation reports, as required.

  • Coordination and Representation

  • Serve as a liaison between project sites, local Lions, partners, and LCIF

  • If invited, participate in Lions regional and international meetings, as appropriate

     

    We’re Looking for Someone With:

  • Proven expertise in project management and evaluation.

  • Preferably holds a degree in public health with experience in the field of eye care.

  • Minimum of 5 years of international experience in project management, public health, and/or community eye care services.

  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of the vision sector, including its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, particularly in high-income countries.

  • Familiarity with Lions Clubs International philanthropic efforts, LCIF, and alignment with the objectives, policies, and activities of global grant programs.

  • Proficiency in English and one or more additional languages such as French, Spanish, German, Japanese, or Chinese.

  • Willingness and ability to travel at the request of LCIF as needed.

    This is a remote opportunity, open to all. About 20 hours per month will be required for this assignment.
