The Role: Director – Quality Engineering

The Team: Issuer Solutions is a part of S&P Global’s Market Intelligence division and is recognized for its expertise, innovation, and passion. This role is essential for the Market Intelligence Group of S&P as it ensures the delivery of new software solutions and continuous improvement and stability of our existing applications. Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a diverse team of quality assurance leads, testers, and other QA professionals. This includes hiring, training, mentoring, and performance evaluation.

  • Test Project Management: Work together with development and business partners to define project testing needs and coordinate across globally distributed delivery teams to ensure they are met.

  • Technical Guidance: Use your breadth and depth of knowledge in the field to guide technical decisions around tool selection, framework implementation and refinement, and monitoring and reporting of test results.

  • Team Building: Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment. Identify individual strengths and areas for development, supporting continuous learning and professional growth.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to align quality objectives and communicate outcomes with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Innovation and Strategy: Define and refine strategy and strategic objectives to contribute to the successful outcomes of technology initiatives.

  • Resource Management: Efficiently manage team resources, including personnel and technology, to maximize productivity and meet evolving business needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in leading the SQA function across multiple globally distributed delivery teams.

  • 10 - 15 years’ experience in software delivery with a focus on software quality engineering

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Solid understanding of testing processes within an agile environment

  • Proficient in Typescript and/or JavaScript

  • In depth knowledge of test automation best practices across the stack

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD and exposure to tools such as Azure DevOps, TeamCity, GitHub Enterprise or similar

  • Good understanding of data testing principles and practices

  • Experience with JS testing frameworks such as Jasmine, Mocha, or Protractor

  • Experience testing microservice architectures and contract testing

  • Experience with Mobile testing

  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to hire, inspire, motivate, and guide team members.

  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a creative approach to overcoming technical challenges.

  • Communication: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English.

Advantageous:

  • Experience with WebdriverIO

  • Experience with AWS

  • Experience with observability tools such as Splunk

  • Knowledge of security testing practices
