About The Role

As our first Applied ML Engineering Manager of our Kensho India team, you will initially be hands on learning the ins and outs of our suite of AI-driven capabilities driving value across SPGI. Over time, you’ll build out a team responsible for building upon these suites of tools. As a manager, you would ensure the team is making measurable progress towards their goals, engaged & maintaining a healthy velocity, and you’ll provide technical insights and contributions to the team as well. As this team will be multidisciplinary in composition, the ideal candidate has a breadth of experience across traditional software engineering as well as machine learning, values continual learning, and takes pride in building and managing capabilities that have real user impact.

Responsibilities-

  • Manage a dedicated full-stack team of engineers who build and maintain state-of-the-art capabilities that power Kensho’s AI Toolkit

  • Ensure that the team builds production-ready modeling code that can be scaled out to large volume of data

  • Apply creative thinking to solve complex modeling problems

  • Collaborate with the product, go-to-market, and engineering leaders to understand the team’s strategic vision and the most promising problems to tackle

  • Grow, mentor, coach and develop your team members both professionally and technically

  • Partner with our talent acquisition team to grow the team

  • Be hands-on to the extent that it makes sense for your team

  • Partnering with data labeling team in Pakistan

Who You Are

  • Have 9+ years of hands-on experience in applied machine learning, with a proven track record of successfully delivering machine learning solutions in real-world applications.

  • Have 2+ years of management experience

  • Have had success mentoring and/or building a team of engineers. We are looking for someone who can think long term about hiring and training

  • Have had success partnering with a product manager and cross-functional colleagues

  • Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex machine learning concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Have a deep understanding of modern ML application design, from problem framing to deployment and monitoring in production

  • Are an innovation oriented person who can come up with out-of-the-box solutions

  • Are a thoughtful and collaborative code reviewer and teammate

  • Are highly organized and result-oriented
