ABOUT THE ROLE:
Holcim Us, a leading supplier of quality, construction building materials in the United States, has immediate openings for a Floating Plant Operator - Millwright with electrical expereince to support operations within the Asphalt product line at the Bladensburg Maryland plant location. This position will be responsible overseeing and maintaining equipment at the plant. Also to operate and repair electrical issues at the plant.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Pre-shift inspection of the plant
Assist with preventative and reactive maintenance: changing screens, greasing, changing rollers, belt splices, rebuilding crushers, welding, and fabrication
Assists with other site projects as requested
Prioritizes safety throughout operation for self and others
Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift
Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures throughout the plant
Installing conduits and pipes to plant electrical wires and cables.
Routinely walking the plant to inspect electrical and mechanical.
Troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including wiring, circuits, and electrical panels
Communicate with Plant Management on a daily basis to discuss items in need of repair.
Maintain electrical/mechanical systems associated with crushers, Conveyor belts, pulleys, pumps, screens and screen bearings.
Prior to undertaking any diagnosis or repair, conduct a job safety assessment.
Analysis to identify and isolate any hazards such as energy (lock-out, tag-out), working at heights, confined spaces, etc.
Always ensure all safety guards are on equipment when it is energized.
Report all incidents, accidents, near misses and first aid events to supervisor.
Attend and actively participate in regular safety toolbox talks, production meetings and trainings
Adhere to all Company Safety, Environmental and Compliance.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Certified Electrician
Required Work Experience: A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years or more of industry related experience.
Excellent oral communication skills with close attention to detail
Mechanically inclined-proven work experience
Proficient in hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems
Certified Welder (CW,CW,CWE or CWRT) preferred
Knowledge of hot work permit systems protocol
OSHA certified
Experience with troubleshooting/installation 120V – 480V electrical systems
PLC and relay logic troubleshooting experience a plus.
Reliable transportation
Comfortable working from elevated platforms and other heights without fear
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
Required Computer and Software Skills:Basic computer skills
Ability to work in all weather conditions without limitations.
Ability to follow Traffic Control instructions and practice safety standards per Company Safety Policy requirements
This position typically is not an entry-level job, as it requires demonstrable previous experience as a Screed Operator
Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees
Must understand the different signals used to signal operators of construction machinery
Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties
Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance
The Operator must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
Additional Requirements:

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
