Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Huntington, West Virginia

We are seeking two full time Research Assistants to assist with data collection for a study aimed to understand the behavioral and interpersonal factors that contribute to HIV risk among people who inject drugs (PWID) in Cabell County, West Virginia. The study aims to recruit and follow a cohort of PWID for 18 months and develop and implement a risk reduction intervention. Follow-up interviews will occur every 3 months for the duration of the 18-month study period. The primary role of the Research Assistant is to support participant recruitment, data collection, and assist with participant follow-ups. The incumbent must be able to work in-person in Huntington, WV.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Research Program Coordinator and investigative team with writing a manual of procedures outlining established protocols for data collection and management.

  • Recruiting and interviewing participants about their health behaviors.

  • Data Entry.

  • Conducting oral HIV rapid testing and referring participants to related services at the health department as applicable. Training for administering HIV tests will be provided.

  • Supply ordering and inventory.

  • Conduct community outreach and recruitment activities to enroll participants in the cohort.

  • Run standard analyses and produce ad hoc reports related to study recruitment and retention.

  • Other Duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Monday to Friday: 8:30 am – 5 pm
