WTW Pension Outsourcing - Technology Consultant / Project Manager in Houston, Texas

The Role

The Technology Consultant will be a full-time role supporting 5-7 Large Market (LM) clients as part of the ongoing Pension Outsourcing Client Delivery Team.

This colleague will maintain the pension system and lead the specification and design for system changes and updates. This colleague will also have direct responsibility to partner with the Pension Technology Client Delivery Teams that are executing on the maintenance, configuration, development, and testing of the application. This colleague will attend client meetings, consult with the client and the ongoing administration team on our technical standards, best practices, and if needed, custom/client specific solution designs.

The Requirements

  • Lead the consulting for pension system application change orders or special projects ensuring they effectively meet the needs of our system responsibilities and align with our excellence and technical standards

  • Partner with the other consultants/managers (e.g. Project Director, Lead Retirement Consultant, CDT Calculation/Payment Team Leads (specific to MM), Administration Consultant and Operations Manager) to define solutions and ensure the application supports our technical standards and administration processes

  • Subject matter expert on core functionality, system best practices and understands pension outsourcing

  • Responsible for managing the scope for system change order or special project related deliverables and activities; coordinates with the Operations Manager or Shared Delivery Team on all project management and financial management routines related to system development

  • Lead meetings to consult with the client on technical standards and potential customizations with support of the Administration Consultant and Operations Manager

  • Responsible for ensuring the Technology Client Delivery Team understands and executes properly on all client specific change requests and that final deliverables are correct and complete

  • Responsible for working with the Operations Manager, Business Analyst Lead, Developer Lead and Technology Client Delivery Team Leader to prioritize and direct the delivery of aligned client work, leveraging the most appropriate colleagues within the team

  • Coordinate closely with Client Delivery Team managers to ensure the client specific application functionality is aligned to the client specific data, administration, and calculation strategies

  • Determine impact of system related governance deliverables and transition to ongoing activities

  • Define and manage change order and special project work to completion and complete a handoff to the Operations Manager once work is in production

The Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in administration of defined benefit plans, preferably gained in a benefits consulting environment

  • In-depth knowledge of pension system functionality and how it can be used to meet pension administration business needs

  • Experience consulting on pension administration projects and/or systems, including interaction of data, software, administration outputs, and processes

  • Solid understanding of pension and broader benefit plan design

  • Functional or industry knowledge/experience in the application of technology to solve human resource needs such as HRIS/payroll system integration, pension plan administration, health and welfare plan administration, employee self-service and pension payroll administration

  • Ability to work on a multifaceted team (administration, technology and service center) with competing projects, deliverables and priorities, including client implementations and one-time special project work

  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical, integrative, problem-solving and project management skills

  • Strong organizational abilities and flexibility to work in a performance driven environment

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, management information systems, human resources management, benefits administration or related field

  • Ability to travel and work extended hours as needed
