MD Anderson Cancer Center Lead Room Service Wait Staff in Houston, Texas

The Lead Room Service Wait Staff position at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center serves as a lead to staff providing services to patients and guests in the selection, assembly, delivery, and presentation of meals and nourishment. Patients at MD Anderson receive an extensive menu of fresh, cooked-to-order foods delivered to their hospital rooms and tailored to their dietary needs and/or restrictions. Caregivers and guests of inpatients are also able to order quality meals with fresh ingredients designed by culinary experts.

This position will work 6am-2:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of lead experience in a hospitality environment.

Much like the personalized cancer treatment our patients receive, our culinary and clinical nutrition teams design restaurant-style menus with fresh, cooked-to-order foods that are personalized to meet each cancer patient's dietary guidelines. Their choices can be delivered to their hospital rooms 365 days a year, from 6:30am to 9:30pm. Caregivers and guests of inpatients are also able to order quality meals with fresh ingredients designed by culinary experts. Hourly breakdown of salary range:

Minimum $17.00 - Midpoint $21.00 - Maximum $25.00

Job Specific Competencies:

Leading and coordinating assigned wait staff team throughout the meal service operation. Coordinates with management and provides daily reports on unit's tray deliveries and equipment's status. Monitor meal deliveries and reassign staff to units where workload is heaviest. Participates in new staff orientation, training and retraining, and staff performance feedback. Assists Captains and Managers with the weekly and daily schedule and maintaining attendance records. Oversees and coordinates the units' team daily activities to ensure exceptional patient experience and safety and infection control protocols are followed. Monitors the procedures of tray deliveries, pickups, tube feedings, supplements and nursing stock orders. Ensures consolidations of credit cards payments are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Ensures that security and confidentiality of patient information is always protected. Acts as a liaison with clinical dietitians, culinary and call center teams to ensure responsive action to patients and guests' meals and diet questions. Oversee and coordinate unit inventory, ensuring adequate supplies and storing procedures are maintained.

EDUCATION:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Three years of lead experience in a patient care or hospitality environment.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Required: ServSafe Certification Accredited by the American National Standards Institute and the Conference for Food Protection (ANSI).
