Job Overview:

The Chief Electrician reports to the Chief Engineer and has overall responsibilities for all vessel electrical equipment maintenance and repair.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsible for maintenance and repairs to all vessel electrical equipment and systems utilizing all available resources.

  • Works as directed by Chief Engineer to organize supervise and assist where required in vessel and equipment electrical repairs and maintenance within a good marine standard.

  • Assists other department personnel as required and directed by Chief Engineer.

  • Follows a continuous improvement process that includes familiarization with vessel systems and equipment, and taking advantage of any company-offered craft training.

  • Adheres to company health, safety, and environmental programs.

  • Adheres to company objectives, policies, programs, and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by their Supervisor.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.

  • Vocational Training (electrical)
