Description

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid serves as a vital leadership role within the Financial Aid Office. This position helps advise and administer financial aid programs. They are responsible for managing compliance activities, processing all return to title IV students and supervising the customer service areas within the Financial Aid Office. The Assistant Director also coordinates other compliance issues, including Catalog and Policies and Procedures.

Duties:

  • Develops, implements, and maintains an effective compliance program to detect, prevent, and resolve issues that fail to meet federal and state financial aid regulations; Ensures timely and efficient delivery of services; oversees quality control, compliance and system integrity for the unit.

  • Trains staff on guidelines, policies, procedures and general departmental functions.

  • Manages data and reporting requests; manages updates and information reported in University Catalog.

  • Performs Return to Title IV Funds Calculations for students who have withdrawn from the university.

  • Directs activities and supervises professional and support staff, sets priorities and reassigns duties for special projects.

  • Assists in managing daily operations of the office, assesses office policies and procedures, sets goals for office, and evaluates staff performance.

  • Counsels students on the availability of financial aid, the eligibility requirements, the application process and students' rights and responsibilities for all programs. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree.

  2. At least three years of experience in Financial Aid at a higher education institution.

  3. Knowledge of financial aid program regulations and student eligibility.

  4. Knowledge of compliance or federal & State program regulations.

  5. Knowledge of recruitment cycles.

  6. Working knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Power Point.

  7. Ability to use PeopleSoft Administration.

  8. Ability to analyze and positively change policies and procedures.

  9. Ability to lead and coordinate processes within a team.

  10. Ability to disseminate information to all levels; including administration, colleagues and students.

Desired:

Master's degree.

Three years of experience with compliance or federal & State program regulations.
