WRRC SAMPLING OUTREACH ASSISTANT - ID# 224310. CLOSING DATE: May 21, 2024, or until filled. INQUIRIES: Chris Shuler 808-956-7848 (Maui). (2) Regular, Part-Time (25% FTE), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC), Ulupono Maui, located in Maui. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. HOURLY RANGE: $24 - $29.51/Hr DUTIES: Takes and drives to collect water quality samples at homes in affected areas. Conducts basic data analysis. Interfaces with and provides information to homeowners. Assists with outreach and education about water quality for homeowners, school groups, classroom visits as needed. Communicates and presents on data collection results. Assists with other Maui Fires research, including climate station maintenance, microbial sampling, air quality measurements as needed and required. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION At least two (2) years of college-level coursework from an accredited college or university. EXPERIENCE Up to one (0-1) year of experience in water sampling. KNOWLEDGE Proficient knowledge of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) water sampling. Familiar working with communities in a wildfire disaster. ABILITIES and SKILLS Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to interface with various communities. Proficient ability to interact with homeowners after a disaster. Must possess a valid drivers license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal drivers insurance equivalent to Hawaiis No-Fault Drivers Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months. POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies, procedures, and trainings and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawaii's and/or business entity's policies, procedures, and trainings. Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).
