Hilton Central School District 24-25 1.0 FTE Senior Systems Administrator #01 in Hilton, New York

Civil Service Classification Title: Senior Systems Administrator - Competitive

The Hilton Central School District has an anticipated vacancy for a Senior Systems Administrator. This is a full-time, twelve-month, administrative, confidential position responsible for the administration of the District's online, hardware, and software systems, including network hardware and software applications.

This position will report directly to the Director of Technology.

Responsibilities of this position will include:

Overseeing and participating in the installation, support, and maintenance of computer systems and servers in collaboration with the Network Administrator supervising user account management, including coordination with District building and department administrators to determine and execute access privileges.

Suggesting and implementing security procedures related to the District's computer systems and servers.

Monitoring system data and logs to identify issues and solutions, including patching.

Develops and implements software packages and service packs for updating computers on the network.

Investigating and evaluating new technologies from a systems administration viewpoint to recommend technology solutions across the District.

Serves as part of the Leadership Team of the department, collaborating on initiatives and projects at various stages

Position Start Date: TBD

This position requires the Civil Service title of Senior Systems Administrator. Therefore, only those candidates who are currently working in this title or who meet minimum qualifications for Provisional Appointment will be considered. The term “provisional” means that you will be required to take the next Civil Service examination for this title, and place among the top three (3) candidates on the examination list in order to be eligible for permanent appointment.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Eligible for a Civil Service appointment

  • Knowledge of Google and AD administration, information systems and networking concepts, as well as attention to detail, and analytical and organizational ability are important characteristics in a successful candidate.

  • Supervisory experience preferred

    Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any Information Technology related field, plus six (6) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in Systems Administration*; OR,

(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree as defined in (A) above, plus four (4) years paid full time or its part-time equivalent experience in Systems Administration*; OR,

(C) Eight (8) years of paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in Systems Administration*; OR,

(D) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), or (C) above.

*For the purpose of these minimum qualifications, systems administration is defined as work that involves planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.

Special Requirements:

If you are appointed, you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a vehicle in NYS, or otherwise demonstrate your ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
