JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A full-time Research Technologist - Animal Sciences position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Amy Arnold, in the Neural and Behavioral Sciences Department, at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey PA. The work in the laboratory is focused on understanding how hormones can interact with the brain to regulate blood pressure and energy balance in mouse models of diseases such as hypertension and obesity. The principal roles of this job will include managing inventory and ordering of supplies and animals, day-to-day care of laboratory animals, molecular assays, experiments to assess blood pressure and metabolic function, and compilation and analysis of data. If desired and qualified, independent research opportunities will be available.

Candidates must be willing to learn new techniques and be responsible, self-motivated, a good communicator, and possess strong organizational skills and basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office and Google documents). Previous research experience with rodents and experimental data collection and analysis is not required but will be plus. Successful candidates for this position are required to have a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a biological or biomedical science field.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
