Amazon Release Manager, Data Center Engineering in Herndon, Virginia

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Key job responsibilities

Successful candidates will be analytical with excellent written and communication skills and be fully competent in a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated proficiency in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking.

Other requirements include proficiency with MS Office, MS Project and MS SharePoint. Experience with Tableau, Kanban, SQL and systems integration a plus.

Preferred qualifications

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA

• Understanding of critical Data Center equipment

• Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers (Including but not limited to: uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers [air-cooled and water-cooled], pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, air economizers, etc...)

• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications (CSI Format)

• The successful candidate will have a customer focus, a diverse work experience, and a business curiosity/strategic viewpoint. The candidate will have an attention to detail, good judgment, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to self-start and self-motivate. and a business curiosity/strategic viewpoint with technical problem-solving and communication skills

• Organized and have the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines and budget

• Possess leadership and problem-solving skills

• Data center planning experience

• Proven ability to effectively manage project budgets is essential

• High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously, willingness to roll up your sleeves.

• Ability to think and react in a high energy, fast paced environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communications across technical and non-technical stakeholders and experience presenting to senior executives.

• Dual education background - business and tech/quantitative discipline.

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data to back up assumptions, evaluate outcomes and challenge conventional wisdom.

• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management

  • Experience managing cross-functional programs and release schedules

  • Experience with MS Project, MS Office, and MS Sharepoint
