The Herkimer County Community College Housing Corporation is seeking qualified applicants for an Area Coordinator for Residence Life & Residential Programming. This is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position.

Major responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a "sense of belonging" among students in order to enhance the quality of residential living at Herkimer College.

  • Help supervise evening and weekend events, including Resident Assistant sponsored programs.

  • Support, supervise and evaluate R.A. staff within assigned housing area.

  • Maintain office hours in the Office of Residence Life (Hours to be determined). Hours during summer months will be adjusted.

  • Hold regular meetings with the R.A. staff.

  • Handle primary mediations (i.e. roommate conflicts/crisis intervention)

  • Coordinate monthly safety inspections with the R.A. staff in assigned housing area, and take action as appropriate.

  • Participate in rotating on-call duty calendar within the Office of Residence Life.

  • Work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to address any facility repairs within assigned housing area.

  • Work on health and wellness programing in conjunction with the Counseling Center

  • General office duties and other duties as assigned.

Ancillary Responsibilities:

  • Organize Intramurals in conjunction with Herkimer Athletics

  • Serve as a resource for student clubs/organizations and advisors

  • Assist with new student orientation and Fall Fest & Alumni Weekend.

    Job Requirements:

    Minimum Experience and Educational Background:

  • Experience working in College Residence Halls and/or Student Activities preferred.

  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Must have basic computer knowledge and be familiar with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Microsoft Word & Publisher. Basic knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and other social media platforms preferred.

  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends, as required/needed.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
