The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Special Programs and Services Work Program Coordinator in the Police Department. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.**
Under limited supervision, coordinates the Special Programs and Services Work Programs; contacts non-compliant work program participants; processes and serves legal documents; and performs related duties as assigned.
Physical Work Environment: Course of work may be conducted in various Henderson locations. Incumbents are regularly exposed to outdoor work environments and a range of weather conditions as well as direct observation of urine sample collection. Observance of urine sample collection for the DART program (Drug and Alcohol Random Testing) occurs indoors at the Work Program building and is a weekly occurrence. Related work involves operation of city vehicles including (but not limited to) small buses and pickup trucks with trailers, hauling materials, transporting program participants, set up and take down of tools and equipment, and other related tasks.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school, or the equivalent
Three (3) years of experience working in a correctional or probation setting which included consistent interaction with offenders
Note: an equivalent combination of related training and work experience may be considered.
Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license as defined by NRS 483
Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check.
Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every two years. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
Desirable: Associate's degree in Criminal Justice
