Weyerhaeuser Technical Team Member in Heaters, West Virginia

The Technical Team Member at Sutton West Virginia OSB is responsible for ensuring all quality expectations are met for the manufacturing site. This position reports to the Technical Team Leader and is classified as full time, salaried non-exempt. The essence of this role requires a highly motivated, people-oriented individual to commit to a proactive, practical application of safety and day to day operations.

Key Functions

The Technical Team Member is accountable for the continuous monitoring of product quality and optimizes the product and process in response to current operating conditions. The Technical Team Member must be able to work independently and with urgency, offering feedback and recommendations on immediate or potential quality issues or opportunities.

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Wood Science/Sustainable Biomaterials or similar technical degree
  • Commitment to actively promoting and exhibiting an attitude of safety and caring
  • Ability and willingness to practice safe work habits and follow all safety policies
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use a personal computer, including proficiency in computer applications such as Outlook, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to independently analyze data and recommend alternate courses of action
  • Ability to take direction and willingness to take initiative on new tasks
  • Ability to organize and plan priorities
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Ability and willingness to read and comprehend technical and non-technical information
  • Able to work with little direction from the supervisor
  • Ability and willingness to safety operate lab saws
  • Ability to use applied math skills/statistical methods
  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a cooperative "high performance" work system
  • Ability to quickly adjust to meet customer requirements and needs
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, etc.
  • Ability and willingness to meet attendance requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Resume detailing education and work history required for consideration
  • Experience in a wood products manufacturing facility is preferred

Compensation:This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of$48,175 to $72,193 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement:Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation:We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.
