We are looking for:

  • A Composites Apprentice Technician within CE (Customer Engineering) will be at the heart of cutting edge technologies using state of the art equipment and will become a skilled resource that will be an enabler for manufacturing technologies, processes and practices.

  • A Composites Apprentice Technician is engaged in a variety of processes in the production and creation of materials and components that are used in a range of applications including airplanes, cars, boats, turbine blades, oil & gas rigs, bridges, trains and satellites. They will develop to be able to provide specialised knowledge and skills that support manufacturing programmes and projects and may be deployed in the areas of design, tooling, moulding, lay-up, curing, machining, inspection, testing, repair and material production. As the Technician grows in competence and expertise, other areas of composites technology such as automated manufacture development, preform technologies, processing technologies, validation and post processing, may form part of their role and responsibility.

  • Reporting Line: CE Applications Centre Manager

We can count on you for:

  • The production of carbon composite components using composite laminating and trimming techniques - as well as necessary curing methods. This will require you to follow clear verbal or written instructions

  • You may then be responsible for the final completion of each component known as “Trimming” where you will use a combination of air and manual hand tools to finalise the shape of the part, following set drawings and processes.

  • Throughout this process you will be responsible for self-inspecting your work at key stages of the production cycle and work closely with your supervisor to ensure the very highest level of standard is achieved.

  • Provide support to Technicians and Engineers within the CE group as required on a daily basis

  • Ownership of supported training model, both internally and via college studies

You will bring:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: 5 GCSE’s at A*-C/9-4 including Maths, English and Science to be accepted formally into the Apprentice Technician role.

  • Predicted qualifications acceptable for provisional offer.. (If supported with letter from School).

Considerations

  • Must be able to get to and from the designated place of work. (CE site)

  • Must be willing to travel, from time to time, to locations and partners in the supply-chain that will help to advance your learning and skills development.

  • Willingness to undertake formal training in line with typical apprenticeship guidelines set by the relevant governing bodies
