About the role

The stewarding attendant’s role is to ensure that all chinaware, flatware, silverware and glassware and kitchen equipment and utensils are cleaned whilst maintaining correct procedures in line with InterContinental Hayman Island Resorts policies & procedures.

Your day to day

The role involves maintaining cleanliness and organisation in dishwashing areas, ensuring that chinaware, flatware, glassware, and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained. You will also perform deep cleaning of machinery and furniture, set up for functions and events, and manage the transportation of equipment and supplies. Adherence to safety procedures, proper chemical handling, and high standards of personal hygiene and professionalism are essential, along with timely communication about any equipment issues or scheduling conflicts.

What we need from you

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, making it easy for guests and colleagues to approach them with both concerns and compliments. With effective problem-solving abilities, you will transform challenges into opportunities, ensuring that every guest leaves with memorable experiences. Excellent organizational skills are essential for prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines, while flexibility is required to accommodate night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Additionally, physical strength is necessary, as the role involves lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg), which may require bending and kneeling.

Intended commencement date for this position would be the 9th of December 2024, with the role being located on Hayman Island, Queensland.

Appropriate Australian working rights are required for this role.

The base hourly rate for this position is $24.17 under the Hayman Island Enterprise Agreement, working a minimum of 38 hours per week across a 7-day roster with shifts spanning from early in the morning until later at night.
