Amentum Industrial Hygienist in Hawthorne, Nevada

Amentum is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Industrial Hygienist will report into the Program Safety Department and will be performing work site inspections, identifying occupational health hazards, track corrective measures and mitigate workplace hazards. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for work site inspections, identifying occupational health hazards, track and mitigate the same.

  • Conducts routine industrial hygiene surveys for noise and air contaminants.

  • Ensures compliance with company, state and federal regulatory standards and regulations.

  • Develops recommendations to correct and/or mitigate identified occupational health hazards.

  • Develops recommendations to correct and/or mitigate identified occupational health hazards.

  • Prepares detailed reports on reoccurring basis to ensure worksite remains compliant with state and federal government regulations.

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene.

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)

  • Minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience performing as an Industrial Hygienist.

  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.

  • Must be detailed oriented and can solve complex problems and understand the impact of decisions upon the operation on the facility.

  • Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize projects, adapting to changes as they occur.

  • Must have the ability to track and disseminate information in various formats and programs.

  • Ability to speak publicly and communicate clearly during normal and crisis situations.

  • Ability to read and comprehend explicit operating procedures and processes.

  • Must conduct oneself with responsibility, integrity, accountability, and adhere to employee conduct expectations.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada drivers license unless physically unqualified to obtain such a license.

  • Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.

  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.

  • Must be willing/able to be at work as scheduled & maintain a good attendance record.

  • Must be willing and able to work in a procedurally compliant environment.

  • Must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment.

  • Must be willing and able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment.

  • Demonstrated willingness to be a team player.

  • Takes initiatives to meet or exceed performance expectations.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications through Amentum’s Master Training Plan

  • Must be able to complete all training requirements and fulfilling all self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.

  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)

  • Experience in work management/control.

  • Experience working in a hazardous materials environment.

  • Prior supervisory experience.

  • Good oral and written communications skills. Working knowledge of using computer software, applications, and other office equipment is desired. Organizational skills and the ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

  • This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam, and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.
