The VP, Head of Regions is responsible for organizational leadership and designing and executing a growth strategy and will have P&L responsibility for the Regional Segments (Small Group, Middle Market, and Public & Labor) for Aetna’s Commercial business across all US market geographies. This leader will identify and shape the competitive advantage required for the business to succeed in each market and segment and will lead the execution of strategic and operational plans to deliver on that advantage. A critical focus will be on sustaining a leading competitive cost position, capitalizing on growth opportunities integrated with other CVS Health businesses. This leader partners with Actuarial, Underwriting, Network, Clinical and other shared services teams to drive favorable results on financial metrics, including influencing trend to help improve our overall cost position. As the executive face of the Regional Segments for Aetna, this leader will regularly interface with the most senior levels of the organization, industry associations, and external clients while maintaining a close connection with senior leaders across the Regional Segments. This leader will also be a visible presence in the community and establish Aetna as a thought-leader in the local health care ecosystem. They will also establish and maintain supportive relationships with business partners, government agencies, provider systems and brokers/consultants. Internally, the Head of Regions represents the needs the Regions and Regional Segments across the enterprise, garners support from enterprise partners for Regional initiatives, and influences the direction of the Commercial and Specialty Businesses. They also reinforce the enterprise culture and foster adoption of CVS Health’s Heart at Work behaviors.Role Components

  • Aetna Commercial – provide strategic leadership, including setting direction and leading industry-transforming capabilities with direct oversight of field-based Regional Leadership Teams and the goal of increasing market share and margin expansion in Public & Labor, Middle Markets and Small Group, including the following:

  • Public and Labor: Increase membership by adding new labor and higher education clients

  • Middle Markets: Achieve profitable membership growth

  • Small Group: Expand existing geographic footprint

  • COEs: enable achievement of regional goals while optimizing performance

  • Partner across additional commercial offerings to include National Accounts, PEOs, Dental Vision and Voluntary, Student Health, TPA and the Individual Market

  • Aetna Integrated Value – design and implement an approach with Aetna and other CVS Health stakeholders to deliver on transformational strategy to deliver innovative models of care and long-term enterprise value to new and existing Commercial customers

  • External leadership – represent Aetna as a thought leader with legislative and regulatory audiences as well as within industry forums

Pay Range:The typical pay range for this role is:310,000-410,000.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.   • Approximately 20 + years of experience; proven success leading a large-scale healthcare benefits businesses and P&L’s

  • 15+ years with demonstrated general management experience driving customer and revenue growth

  • 10+ years developing long-term relationships with key external stakeholders, including Fortune 100 employers and leading brokers, will be highly valued

  • Proven experience driving financial and operational performance

  • Successful track record of understanding the complete distribution landscape across the Regional Segments, including direct sales, general agents, brokers and consultants

  • Strong understanding of the commercial business and experience driving sales across multiple business lines

  • Strategic thinker who is growth-oriented and can quickly understand the economics of the company as well as the shifting needs of clients and the competitive landscape

  • Capable of serving as a change-agent, with experience balancing between local market and enterprise needs

  • Strong communicator with track record of building trusting relationships and an understanding of how to accomplish objectives both directly and through influence in other areas of the business

  • Experience operating in a matrixed environment, excelling at cross-functional collaboration

  • A decisive and effective decision maker; should be comfortable making clear, rational, timely decisions

  • Proven experience building a high-performing, resilient teams

  • This is client/market focused role so travel will be expected.

Education:Bachelor's degree or equivalent
