Basic Function

The Risk Manager, TAA will provide Business Continuity (BC) , Incident Management (IM) strategic and operational support and thought leadership for the Tax and Accounting (TAA) divisional and business unit executives. The position will be responsible for establishing a Business Continuity governance structure, developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of business continuity functions across the Division with the focus on operational readiness and incident management that is consistent with the corporate BCM framework and policies. This individual will set the Divisional BCM strategy, tactical action plans, framework standards, and templates for consistent execution, plan maintenance training, annual compliance, and reporting. Supporting assigned business continuity coordinators at the business unit level, the position will ensure all business units within TAA have proper documentation and readiness for client audits and may perform continuity audits on vendors as well. This position will act as the Division Lead for Incident Management, partnering with Corporate Risk Management and Divisional or other Incident Management Teams to deliver annual awareness training, ensure appropriate readiness (divisional/BU IMTs), response, lessons learned, and related reporting. The role will also be required to lead or otherwise support certain divisional and BU-level incident responses, training or awareness campaigns. This position requires advanced Leadership/Teamwork skills: works well with executive leaders to shape and operationally execute strategy to deliver to customers, continue business, irrespective of wind direction.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Business Continuity Management:

  • Oversee the business continuity (BC) activities throughout TAA, representing the division in BC matters and coordinating with global BC leaders; Key contact for Global Head of BCM and Incident Management (Corporate Risk Management)

  • Help ensure global/divisional/BU/local plans and policies are validated, implemented, applied consistently, and maintained across the organization

  • Provide necessary support to business units and collaborate with senior leadership in identifying critical business processes, performing their Business Impact Analysis (BIAs), creating Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and documenting recovery strategies across the TAA Division, in turn protecting revenues.

  • Oversee annual BIA, BCP review and updates as well as annual plan testing

  • Drive quality improvements based on risks assessments and deliver efficiencies gains through further harmonization and standardization of BC Practice across the division

  • Gain/maintain knowledge of all relevant policies, processes, and technologies affecting TAA business unit operations

  • Perform ongoing review/updates of existing BCP policies, manage/validate/update relevant documentation

  • Oversee partner and vendor audit readiness with respect to divisional BC/IM

  • Support and coordinate training and development of the BC coordinators and SMEs (dotted lines) in each business unit and oversee the divisional BC communities

  • Coordinate with IT Disaster Recovery to mitigate gaps uncovered from Business Impact Analysis

  • Communicate and train others on a coordinated and consistent continuity policy and standards

  • Respond to specific customer, regulatory, insurers’ demands, questionnaires related to Operational and continuity areas

  • Manage process and continuity vulnerability activities by identifying, evaluating, conducting, scheduling, and leading continuity analysis functions; scheduling and managing tests performed by others

  • Produce metrics reporting the state of continuity programs

  • Provides operational Business Continuity input and requirements to Wolters Kluwer’s Global Business Services IT DR team, to meet client operational recovery requirements

  • Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care

Incident Management:

  • Key contact for Corporate, other Regional/Divisional and TAA sub-IMT’s.

  • Bridged to the Corporate Incident Management Plan and other involved IMT’s, effectively and efficiently Lead Divisional IM program governance, preparedness, awareness, and response operations, logistics (including keeping CIMT Ops up to date with current TAA IMT roster detail), lessons learned, training, documentation, stakeholder communications and reporting.

  • Conduct incident management training as needed to maintain IMT proficiency Working with key stakeholders including Corporate Incident Management, Facilities, Legal and others, plan and execute incident management exercises

Other Duties

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Finance, Accounting, computer science or related field or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years business continuity lifecycle experience

  • Experience conducting Business Impact Analysis (BIAs), required

Experience:

  • Experience in business control, risk management and/or business continuity/disaster recovery and Incident/Crisis Management; preferably with a military or financial services background

  • Certified Business Continuity Professional, Disaster Recovery Institute International or equivalent certification, highly preferred

  • Military or Civilian Incident Command System or Crisis Management Training and Certifications, a plus

  • Experience working within or for a global, publicly traded company, a plus

  • Working in a medium to large company overseeing business control/risk management activities

  • Experience applying Enterprise Risk Management standards, Risk Assessment Frameworks, Tools (Ex. Fusion Risk Management and Everbridge Mass Notification), a plus.

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications: (First list requirements, followed by preferences.)

  • Cross-functional/ cross-country / cross-geography project management experience and driving results working with operating teams, not under your direct control would be an advantage

  • Experience in building and leveraging an international network and working effectively cross functionally

  • Familiarity with data privacy matters in a global organization with a European footprint, a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills (in English)

  • European languages, a plus

  • Tech savvy: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications, other Risk Managing tools, a plus

  • MBCI – Member Business Continuity Institute, Business Continuity Institute, a plus

  • Project Management experience a plus

Travel requirements

This work will require minimal travel <10%

Physical Demands

Normal office requirements. The position will involve inflexible deadlines and ad-hoc requests.

Compensation:

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, HI, NY, WA: $117,500-$164,700
