Summary You will serve as a SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (HAZMAT) in the Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Responsibilities You will conduct physical inventory counts, monitor the shelf-life of materials, track outstanding material listings for 30 day life-cycle management, and alert inventory managers or supervisor of serious discrepancies/gaps in reported transactions. You will maintain automated inventory records, collecting and processing input files. You will perform administrative filing of customer requirements. You will initiate communications with potential customers via email, phone or other methods and respond to a variety of customers, supervisor, and vendors inquiries. You will submit financial reports to customers as needed. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a as a Supply Technician maintaining accurate records, inventory levels. processing supply transactions, preparing supply reports and receive/ store/ deliver/ dispose of Hazardous Materials. Examples of Specialized Experience may include: 1) Using research tools (e.g. shelf life management systems) to support hazardous materials inventory management. 2) Producing various supply reports (e.g. receipts, issues, scrapping, gains, losses, returns) to support a hazardous materials supply program. 3) Applying environmental regulations and reporting requirements to develop complex supply and environmental reports. Education There are no educational requirements for this position. Additional Information: May be required to obtain/possess Material Handling Equipment (10K) Forklift operator permit/license. The forklift permit/license would be required to be obtained within 30 days of reporting for duty should it be required. Physical Demands: The work requires physical exertion such as bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching and lifting up to 35 pounds when conducting inventories, stowing receipts and issuing material. Some of the work is sedentary and performed in an office setting. However, most of the work is outside and in warehouses. Incumbent may be subject to occasional travel of up to 25%. This may require walking, bending and climbing during visits to various Navy and commercial installations. During the course of this travel, industrial facilities may be visited or toured. Work Environment: The work environment involves moderate risks, which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts, or machines. The employee may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection and gloves.
